1.  LaunchGood.com/Relief  — Our primary campaign to provide consistent monthly relief for hundreds of orphans under our care in Indonesia who need food and other supplies every month and have no one to rely on besides our donors to give this.

2.  LaunchGood.com/Waqf  — This campaign takes one-time donations and turns them into monthly recurring income by investing them into Islamic Bonds (Sukuk) that provide ~1% per month on the amount invested. We compound about half to grow this even more over time for operations and help against inflation of costs; then use the other half directly for the food purchased in our main Relief campaign to help orphans. This means for about every $5,000 donated just once we can care for one orphan every month for hundreds of years to come, until the end of time, through our invested charity waqf or endowment!

3.  LaunchGood.com/Rohingya  — This is our ongoing campaign for helping with the ongoing needs of Rohingya refugees in Indonesia and SE Asia. We initial built shelters for thousands of refugees since 2015 and continue to support them from generous donations of our members.

4.  LaunchGood.com/Ramadan1445  — This is the most time sensitive campaign as we want to raise $20,000 in the next months *before* Ramadan so that at the start of Ramadan we can host an iftar for 1,000 orphans and then also give them a packet of supplies such as dates, etc. that they can break their fasts with every day for the entire month of Ramadan. Our goal is 1,000 orphans but this will be based on donations and if we meet our $20k goal. We do have more orphans in our area if we are able to raise more!

I know you're busy this Ramadan but I wanted to reach out to you as a past donor.  The main mission of the us-Sunnah Foundation, since it started in 2014, has been the consistent monthly care for orphans and widows.  Every month we provide 200 orphans and widows with food packets which contain food staples for 30 days for about 5 people.  We also provide education assistance to keep orphans in school while they have so much pressure to quit and work on the streets to survive.  Finally we worked with local clinics to make sure everyone has access to basic healthcare.

For just $50 per month you can sponsor and orphan, which includes all of the above with good food, good education, and good health, inshaa' Allah.  Since our founding, our focus has been on being locally run, personal, and efficient being completely volunteer run and having a Waqf of farms and apartments to cover operations expenses.  This means your donation goes truly 100% only to the orphans in need as you intend.

Unfortunately in the last few years with the pandemic donations have declined and many of our monthly recurring donors or sponsors have lost jobs and cancelled their recurring support.  Right now we have only about $1,200 in regular monthly recurring donations.  We must get to $10,000 by the end of Ramadan and this is our goal. The us-Sunnah Foundation was founded in 2014 with the mission to be as efficient as possible while making the most impact. In our first few years we bought and established 2 rice fields and 8 low-income apartments that we both use for our mission to help orphans and the needy while also bringing in some recurring income for our basic operations to support the mission. Asalaamu'alaikum Ikhwan. I truly need some help right now and it is urgent.

Apparently a group of hackers were using our charity's donations to test stolen cards and over the last year or more they made $9103.57 worth of payments that Stripe is now taking back from our charity's bank. Problem is we already used those funds to feed people and this is going to put us in the negative badly.

We have 200+ orphans and needy that we care for every month and unless we can raise this amount fast it will probably mean they will go without food for March and April, which includes Ramadan and Eid. Most of those we help live in illegal shacks or huts next to train tracks and really are truly needy. The us-Sunnah Foundation has provided millions of meals and hundreds of shelters for Rohingya refugees and Indonesian orphans in our five years.  Our charity is unique because it was founded on the concept of Waqf which provides for all our operations costs as well as a portion of our relief work from independent and recurring income.  This also allows us to have a 100% donation policy where every donation fully goes where intended.

Why Edinboro?

Edinboro is a community I am extremely familiar with personally and home to one of the largest universities in Pennsylvania with thousands of students from many cities. We have already identified the perfect piece of land for this mission that is extremely affordable, on the town's main road, and just outside the university's main entrance. This location will be ideal in providing Islamic services to the many Muslim students who come to Edinboro to study as well as our assistance and outreach programs that will help thousands.

The Plan

Once we have the land we already have identified multiple local contractors that are willing to help with services and will be able to build the masjid in monthly installments that are affordable to the small local community. The us-Sunnah Foundation was founded over 4 years ago and since then has provided hundreds of shelters for Rohingya refugees, cared for thousands of orphans in Indonesia, and provided over 3 million meals for those in need. The us-Sunnah Foundation's Waqf program was founded because few work in long-term recurring support for orphans and refugees even though it is the most efficient way to help.  Example, an orphan can be sponsored for ~$50 per month, but if one was to give 30 months worth, approximately $1,500 to our waqf it could generate that amount every month permanently, which means it could sponsor an orphan every month for hundreds of years, or until the end of time.  This is by far the best use of every donation dollar which we take as an amanah (trust) from our donors.  With our 100% donation policy the money is best given and beneficial to our waqf program.

Progress and Documentation

Alhamdulillah the generous donations have built over 250 shelters and provided almost 3 million meals.  We now need everyone's help to reach $500k so that we can double this number for refugees with children who still do not have their own living space or consistent meals that we will provide.  Our program makes the best and most efficient use of donations by working with the refugees themselves who are happy to build the shelters and provide the cooked meals as a community, by providing them supplies and some staff that helps.  This allows us to do more than others with each donation and allow the refugees to develop as communities that will last as long as needed for this crisis, inshaa' Allah.

Every shelter is built in batches and includes toilet facilities, well with pump for water, as well as monthly supplies needed for the next year (at our set goal amount).  While the Rohingya crisis may not be in the news daily, remember that the needs of these refugees is very much a daily struggle and needs everyone's ongoing help.

Firstly, may Allah reward you for your donations until now.  We started this campaign last September when the refugee numbers surged in the wake of the renewed violence in Burma.  The money raised initially went to teams on the ground providing emergency relief to those in Burma fleeing the conflict areas.  This was difficult due to the ban on foreign aid but local volunteers were able to provide crucial supplies on the ground in areas where no international organizations were allowed to go.  We provided just over 5 million meals as well as medicine, blankets, and other supplies needed.

After this we focused on shelters which are built in batches of 50 with bathrooms, water well, and a years supply of food for each family to live on as well as caring for them while the shelters were built.  This was done in cooperation with local Muslims on the border areas to provide stability and efficiency for the shelters.  We have built 200 shelters and just reached our goal to begin the next 50 now.

In September last year over 600,000 refugees fled Buddhist mobs and the Burmese military for their lives. There have been stories of men killed and babies thrown in fires while women watched, and then were raped themselves and left to die in rice fields.. but then made it to safety at the border.

Firstly, thank you for donating to help our brothers and sisters in dire need, may Allah reward you abundantly in this life and the next, ameen.  Today we sent all the funds raised so far directly to our Indonesian aid teams in the Rakhine and border areas that are directly assisting the Rohingya who are being killed and displaced by Buddhists and the Myanmar Army.  As you've seen in the news, hundreds of thousands are affected so it's impossible to over fund this... in reality us and all the aid agencies are struggling to care for so many in need.  PLEASE spread this campaign to all your friends, family, social pages, groups, email lists, etc. to help raise more - and if you can make a follow up donation when able.

As a reminder, the us-Sunnah Foundation is a registered nonprofit in the US and Indonesia.  Myanmar is part of the ASEAN countries with Indonesia.. this allows our Indonesian teams to travel there as private individuals even though foreign aid is technically banned.  They are onsite in the Rakhine state but military presence is heavy and even saying the word "Rohingya" is not allowed in Myanmar.  Our aid workers have visited the conflict areas and will continue to help those in need directly with your help - but please continue to keep them in your duas.
