Since Ramadan is the month of charity, and because we are the nation of mutual support, we call upon you to join us in order to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.

Seven years have elapsed since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. The bombing, siege, displacement of children and disintegration of society are still ongoing.

For millions of Syrians, displacement and loss or death under the rubble of the buildings have become daily realities.

Many Eids have passed, during which tens of thousands of Syrian children suffered from disease, lack of food and medicine, malnutrition and drought. During this period, hundreds of thousands of Syrians have witnessed increasing displacement and loss of money and lives, the latest of which is the displacement of our fellow people in Homs.

However and despite all that, we can provide much help for our fellow Syrian people, through our will and money, and through supporting the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association (SEMA).

We can save whatever can be saved.

لنخفف الآلام في شهر الإحسان

لأنه شهر الإحسان، ولأننا أمة الجسد الواحد، فإننا ندعوكم لنكون يداً واحدة في تخفيف الآلام عن الشعب السوري.

المحنة السورية دخلت عامها السابع، ولا يزال القصف والحصار وتشريد الأطفال وتقطيع أوصال المجتمع هو سيد الموقف، أصبحت السمة الغالبة هي حياة التشريد والضياع لملايين السوريين، أو الموت تحت أنقاض المباني بعد قصفها بمختلف الأسلحة.

أعيادٌ كثيرةٌ مرّت لم يذق فيها عشرات آلاف الأطفال السوريين سوى طعم المرض ونقص الغذاء والدواء وسوء التغذية والجفاف وقلة الطعام، ولم يزدد فيها مئات الآلاف من الشعب السوري إلا تشريداً وخسراناً في المال والأرواح، آخرها ما يجري لأهلنا في حمص من تهجير.

لكننا نستطيع، نعم نستطيع، بسواعدنا وأموالنا يمكننا أن نقدم الكثير لإخوتنا السوريين، وبوقوفنا صفاً واحداً مع الرابطة الطبية للمغتربين السوريين "سيما" يمكننا إنقاذ ما يمكن إنقاذه.

ادعموا مشاريعنا الطبية المختلفة، ويداً بيد لنضمد جراحهم، ولنخفف الآلام في شهر الإحسان.

تم تمديد حملتنا لإغاثة مهجري الغوطة ومهجري حمص وغيرهم إلى نهاية شهر رمضان المبارك، تبرعوا لهذه الحملة..

In continuation to the urgent response campaign about displaced Ghouta people, SEMA is still trying its best to provide medical services to the sick and wounded displaced people through its hospitals and medical centers, which spread through the north free Syrian areas, and consists of 5 hospitals, several medical centers, a mobile clinic, and ambulance system. Thousands of responses at our medical centers at the critical point were provided, and our mobile clinics are roaming the camps to give their services.

The hospitals treated 2167 patients so far, including 1007 children. Between newborns, there were 5 c-sections and 3 normal deliveries were fully taken care of.

Moreover, SEMA emergency system in rural Hama, which consists of 6 ambulance vehicles, participated in transferring 189 patients and their families to SEMA hospitals and medical centers.

Also, SEMA mobile clinic provided the necessary medical care to more than 1000 patients, including 380 children of the displaced people in several camps.

SEMA is calling out for all good-doers in this world, who are the reason of the success that has been achieved by the association in serving more than 35 medical centers in Syria and the surrounding countries.

استمرار حملة الاستجابة لأهلنا المهجّرين من الغوطة..

استمراراً لحملة الاستجابة الطارئة لأهلنا المهجرين من الغوطة الشرقية المحاصرة بريف دمشق، واصلت الرابطة الطبية للمغتربين السوريين "سيما" بتقديم الخدمات الطبية للمرضى والجرحى المهجرين وذلك عبر مشافيها ومراكزها الصحية المنتشرة في الشمال السوري المحرر، والمؤلفة من 5 مشافٍ ومنظومة إسعاف بالإضافة لعيادة متنقلة.

وقد عالجت المشافي 2167 مريضاً من بينهم 1007 طفل، وكان من بين الأطفال المولودين حديثاُ 5 ولادات بعملية قيصرية و 3 ولادات طبيعية تمّت رعايتهم الرعاية الكاملة.

كما شاركت منظومة سيما الإسعافية في ريف حماة والمؤلفة من 6 سيارات إسعاف بإحالة المرضى إلى المشافي والمراكز الطبية التابعة لسيما لمعالجتهم والعناية بهم، وكان عدد حالات النقل 189 مريضاً مع عائلاتهم.

وقامت العيادة المتنقلة التابعة لسيما بجولة على عدد من المخيمات (ساعد، القرية الطينية، الشيخ بحر) التي مكث بها أهلنا المهجرين وقدمت الخدمات الطبية اللازمة لهم، وكان إجمالي المستفيدين 1054 مريضاً من بينهم 380 طفلاً.

الرابطة الطبية للمغتربين السوريين سيما، تناشد المحسنين وأهل الخير في هذا العالم، الذين هم سبب نجاح الرابطة في تقديم خدماتها لأكثر من 35 مركزاً طبياً في الداخل السوري ودول الجوار، بأن يكونوا معها في حملتها هذه، ويمدوا يد العون لإخوانهم السوريين المهجرين.

لنكن معهم ..... ونضمد جراحهم

The medical student Mohamed; one of the medical team remaining in the City of #Douma says: Over the past years I was a medical student assisting the medical team and do what I was taught and ask about what I don’t know whenever I get stuck.

But yesterday was a different day!

For the last hours; I was the only physician taking and executing decisions without any supervision except from the creator. I was making life and death decisions. I had to identify those who are so badly injured that the chance of saving them is very slim and give the priority to someone else who might have a better chance of surviving his injuries. I was sending patients to the OR and get the one on the OR table out as his conditions is quite difficult to handle with the current available resources. In the last few hours, I had to say yes send this patient to the critical care unit, and leave the other one to face his fate as we cannot save him. I had to send 6 patients to the OR to amputate their limbs which leave them disabled for the rest of their life, whilst they thought that the story of bombardment on their country had stopped and decided to start a new life.

The last hours had been tragic for myself and for the entire medical team; and despite this tragedy, stopping or simply giving up was not an option. The people had no one but us to care for them and deserting them at this dark time of need would have been catastrophic.

Simply the only choice we had was to carry on working day and night until we drop off in the emergency room out of exhaustion. At these times; you should not forget your family and keep praying to Allah that no one of them would come to you injured; you should resist the urge to checking on them as you cannot feel the passage of time.

You have to plough on and on until this massacre stops or you end up being killed under the rubbles of the hospital if it got bombed as the field hospital was not too far from the bombardment. If that was to happen; then you would feel excused as you have fulfilled your duties to the end and you wouldn’t feel any short coming.

At these times you have to sit aside your emotions; forget about the bombing sounds, the dusty scenes and the noise of patients and focus on the soul in front of you and try to do something to save it and get totally embroiled in these wounds and how to manage it.

I am one of the medical team who had been here since 16hr. of Friday afternoon the sixth of April 2018 and we had not taken any break from work. I worked silently trying to save hundreds of injured patients of the city’s youth, children and women. It is the same medical team who had been fulfilling their duties for the past five years, working tirelessly despite bombardment, hunger and the siege. Their only request from the world was to stop the killing machine.

I have sent these words from the emergency department at my city #Douma whilst the world was watching live broadcast on the regimes TV channels how the city and its people are being bombed and killed.

Shortly after writing these words, a chemical weapon attack was carried out and the shelters become grave yards for the people hiding inside it and the disaster continues...

يقول طالب الطب محمد، واحد من الكادر الطبي المتبقي في مدينة دوما:

"طوال السنين الماضية عشنا مجازر وأيام سيئة كثيراً، لكن يوم الجمعة والسبت اليوم هما أقسى ما عشته حتى الآن.

طوال السنين الماضية كنت طالب طب مساعد أشتغل ما أعرفه وألجأ إلى من هو أعلم مني عندما أحتار أو لا أعرف الإجراء اللازم للمريض.

لكن أمس واليوم كان الوضع مختلفاً جداً، في الساعات الماضية كنت الطبيب الوحيد الذي يأخذ القرار وينفذه بدون رقيب عليه إلا من خالقه، أنا الشخص الذي يعطي قرار الوفاة لمريض أو قرار العمل لمحاولة إنقاذ حياة مريض، الذي يقول (ياسر) يجب أن يطلع لغرفة العمليات قبل (فارس) لأنه (فارس) وضعه سيء واحتمال إنقاذه قليل في هذا الوضع.

في الساعات الماضية كان عليّ قول (نعم) يجب أن تطلع للعناية، ومحمد يجب أن يترك لأنه من غير الممكن إنقاذه، كان عليّ أن أحول ٦ أشخاص للعمليات حتى تُبتر أطراقهم ويعيشوا بإعاقة طول عمرهم، في الوقت الذي كانوا يظنون أن قصة القصف على بلدهم انتهت وقرروا أن يرجعوا ليعيشوا حياتهم ويعيدوا روحها من جديد.

الساعات الماضية كانت مأساوية بالنسبة لي في المستشفى وللكادر الطبي كاملاً، ورغم كل شيء مأساوي، لكن لا مجال للاستسلام لأنه لا يوجد غيرنا، لا يوجد أحد يحمل عنا إذا تعبنا أو استسلمنا، قرار الاستسلام غير مسموح به ويجب أن تبقى تشتغل حتى تقع في صالة السعاف من التعب أو لا تبقى عندك القدرة لتقوم على رجليك.

في هذه الأوقات يجب أن تنسى أهلك وتدعو الله أن لا يأتيك أحد منهم مصاباً، يجب أن تنسى أن تطمن عليهم لأنه لا يمكنك أن تشعر بأحد أو تتذكر أحداً، فقط يجب أن تشتغل وتشتغل وتشتغل حتى تتوقف الإبادة أو ينتهي الأمر بك بقصف المشفى (الذي لم يكن بعيداً عما يحصل سوى بأمتار قليلة) وعندها تكون قد أديت واجبك حتى النهاية وتكون معذوراً لا تشعر أنك قصرت.

في هذه الأوقات يجب أن تكون مشاعرك جانباً، يجب أن تنسى أصوات القصف ومشهد الغبار في الصالة وأصوات المرضى وضجيجهم وتهتم بالروح التي أمامك وتحاول أن تقدم لها شيئاً، كل تفكيرك بالجروح التي تراها وكل همك كيف تعالجها.

أنا واحد من الكوادر الموجودة من الساعة الرابعة عصرا يوم الجمعة ٦/٤ لم تأخذ أي استراحة عن العمل ولم تتوقف عن العمل، واشتغلت بصمت حتى تحاول أن تساعد بإنقاذ مئات المصابين من شباب وأطفال ونساء هي المدينة، هي الكوادر الباقية من خمس سنوات تقوم بعملها والتي لم يوقفها عن القيام بواجبها قصف ولا جوع ولا حصار ولا شيء غيره، والتي لم تطلب من العالم إلا أن تتوقف الإبادة ويتوقف القتل.

هذه الكلمات أرسلتها من قسم الإسعاف بمدينتي #دوما في اليوم الذي كان العالم كله يشاهد بثاً مباشراً على قنوات النظام كيف نًقصف وتباد بلادنا وأهلنا وهم صامتون.

بعد أن كتبت كلماتي هذه استُهدفنا بالغازات السامة وانقلبت الأقبية والملاجئ إلى مقابر لساكنيها، والكارثة لم تنته بعد...

Written by Dr. Hussam Adnan: Some of what he witnessed as a surgeon at the Eastern Ghouta hospital.

Another day of the relentless campaign to extinct half a million of besieged civilians of women and children; in spot of the world called the Damascus Ghouta.

I was the surgeon on duty with my colleagues who had no sleep for five continuous days; somewhere of what left of the relief points to treat some of the wounded; those who had their bodies torn apart; their limbs amputated; their eyes exteriorized, and their babies were killed in their wombs.

I went out with my colleagues as we were unaware of the time to the extent that we were unable to differentiate the day from night; except for the massacres that is been reported to us by the paramedics’ cries informing us that these casualties were in the morning barn bread queue before the death barrels had torn them into pieces.

We decided to get out of the operating theatres to breath air free of blood smell, and for a moment to hear with our ears other than the children’s cry or the women’s wailing.

But; we hope that we didn’t; the premises corridors; the waiting areas; the entrances, the resus rooms; the administration offices and even the parking lots all filled with hundreds of families that came with their children out of their houses rubbles and could not go back anywhere as there was no where they could go back to!.

A mother would lay her son that we operated on one or two days ago on the chilled floor with no cover; as all beds and rooms had been filled with the wounded. His hands would be shaking of cold, his mum would weep at his head not knowing what to do.

The copses are between people in the wards, kids crying the loss of their parents, mothers crying the loss of their children, and no way out to even burry them as the local graveyard had been targeted and the morgue had been completely destroyed.

I saw next to a child who we lost yesterday after we failed to save his life his mother lying down sleeping after she had ran out of her tears; she had gone into deep sleep hugging him and his blood had come onto her torn cloths.

My steps accelerated as my heart beats as I was moving from a martyr to a wounded so I decided to go inside back to the blood smell as it had more mercy than the calamitous scenes but an old woman in her sixties stopped me and said: this is my son who was killed by a blind barrel and these are his kids around him crying; do you know why? I did not answer; she said with her eyes soaked with tears that for two days they did not eat and the hunger had made them cry not being orphans.

I sat next to this old grandmother knowing nothing would console her, but I stayed seated because of my helplessness and anger. She patted me on the back and said, “If you bury my son then bury me alive beside him, because you were unable to save him and I won’t be able to feed his children.”

كتب د. حسام عدنان: مما عايشه كطبيب في مشفى الغوطة الشرقية... (بتصرف)

يوم آخر من حملة إبادة نصف مليون محاصر من المدنيين والأطفال والنساء، في بقعة من العالم، تُدعى غوطة دمشق..

كنت الطبيب المناوب مع زملائي الذين ما أغمضت عيونهم منذ خمسة أيام، في مكان هو ما تبقَّى من نقاط لإغاثة جزء من الجرحى، الذين تقطَّعت أوصالهم، وبُترت أطرافهم، واقتُلعت عيونهم، وأُزهقت أرواح أجنَّتِهم..

خرجت مع جمع من زملائي وقد غاب عنا الزمان، فلم نعد ندرك ليلنا من نهارنا، وكل ما يجعلنا ندرك الوقت هو تلك المجازر والأشلاء التي تصلنا من المسعفين وصرخاتهم تنبِئُنا أنهم كانوا صباحاً على طابور لتوزيع لقيمات الشعير فأردتهم براميل الموت أشلاءً ممزقة.

قرَّرنا الخروج من قاعات العمليات لنتنفس هواءً خالياً من رائحة الدماء، ولتسمع آذانُنا ولو للحظة غيرَ صوتِ بكاءِ الأطفال وعويل الأمهات... ولَيتنا ما خرجنا!!

الممرات، وردهات الانتظار، والمداخل، وقاعات الإنعاش، ومكاتب الإدارة، ومواقف السيارات كلها مملوءة بالمئات من الأُسر التي حضرت مع أبنائها من تحت ركام بيوتها، ولم تستطع العودة لأنه لم يعد هنالك مكان تعود إليه.

تضع الأمُّ ابنها الذي أجرينا له جراحةً منذ يوم أو يومين على الأرض المتجمِّدة بلا حائل، لأن الأسِرَّة والغرف امتلأت بالجرحى، ترتجف يداه من شدة البرد، وتبكي الأم فوق رأسه، لا تدري ما تفعل.

الجثث منتشرة بين الناس في الردهات، والأطفال يبكي آباؤهم، والنساء يبكي أطفالهن، ولا إمكانية للخروج حتى لدفنهم، فحتى المقبرة تم استهدافها ومكان تجهيز الموتى تم تدميره.

شاهدت طفلاً فقدناه البارحة، وفشلت محاولاتنا لإنقاذ حياته، وقد استلقت أُمه بجواره على الأرض نائمة، بعد أن جفَّت دموعها عليه طوال الليل، فاستسلمت لنوم عميق وهي تحتضنه ودماؤه غطَّت ثيابها المشظاة.

تسارعت خطواتي، وتسارعت نبضات قلبي وأنا أتنقل بين الجريح والشهيد والمصاب.

قررت أن أعود لرائحة الدماء، فهي أرحم من تلك الأهوال في الممرات والردهات، لكن عجوزاً استوقفتني وقالت: هذا ابني أمامي قتله برميل أعمى، وهؤلاء الصغار أطفاله حوله يبكون، أتعرف لماذا؟!

لم أُجبها، فاغرورقت عيناها بالدموع، وقالت لي والله منذ يومين ما ذاقوا لقمة طعام، أبكاهم الجوع قبل أن يبكيهم اليتم.

جلست بجوار تلك الجدة الستينية، وأعلم ألا شيء يواسيها، إلا أنني جلست لعجزي وقهري..

فربَّتت على كتفي وقالت بالحرف: إن استطعتم دفن ابني فادفنوني حيةً بجواره، فكما عجزتم عن إنقاذ حياته سأعجز أنا عن إطعام أطفاله.
