With your continuous support, we have been able to build a bridge for hundreds of vulnerable children in northern Syria who have been affected by the war, including those with special needs. The recent earthquake has left many children struggling with panic, fear, and trauma. 1000 boys and girls participated in Eid celebrations which were organized by SEMA's Protection teams. The #Eid_Joy campaign included child-friendly entertainment physical and interactive activities along with several contests. The event was concluded by distributing gifts and sweets for the participant children.

In addition, 400 boys and girls of the most vulnerable received Eid clothes as part of #Eid_Clothes campaign.

SEMA's Child Protection teams targeted the most affected children and those with special social conditions to bring joy and delight to their hearts and draw a smile on their faces.

We thank all who responded to our campaign and contributed to making the Eid an occasion that brought happiness and joy for the children in north of Syria.

We know that the beauty of Eid is represented in the bright and beautiful colors of clothes. Unfortunately, thousands of children inside refugee camps do not see the beauty of Eid in this way, and their families do not have the opportunity to see their children smile on the day of Eid.

We concluded the Eid days by drawing a smile on the face of more than 450 children. With your continuous support, they lived moments full of joy and happiness, starting with providing them with Eid clothes, to engaging them in many celebrations and interactive activities.

Hundreds of young children participated in their eid in the camps of northern Syria in the areas of Salqin, Kafr Takharim, Azaz and Atma, and among the list of participants were orphans and people with special needs who benefited from the services of childhood centers.

SEMA’s protection teams continue to celebrate the International Children’s Day in Amal Child-Friendly Spaces, where they held interactive events in northern Syria with the participation of 100 boys and girls at the CFS in Azaz while 68 boys and girls attended in the CFS of Sharan.

 The two events comprised participatory activities and competitions, and were concluded with distributing gifts and toys to the children.

Since the launch of the Eid Clothing campaign, great contributions have been received. Many people really wanted to bring joy to the hearts of children in northern Syria, who do not know the meaning of Eid. We set a goal for our campaign to reach 1,000 children, target them with interactive activities inspired by the Eid and provide Eid gifts, including Eid clothing, as the aim of the campaign was to alleviate the impact of displacement and war on them. However, the joy circle expanded to include more than the targeted number as we have reached 2,500 children who could experience with us the various aspects of Eid and its joy.

The rapid and large response to the campaign created the opportunity to double our target, so we were keen to spread joy in all possible locations that we can reach and conduct the campaign activities.

We went to the places where the children of the camps resided. The Eid clothing campaign reached 1,500 children in each of Idleb and its rural areas (Salqin, Kafr Takharim - al-Janudiyah) as well as in the northern rural areas of Aleppo (Sharan, Shamarin, Al-Bab and Azaz).

The field protection teams accompanied the young children and made visits to the markets so they together chose the new clothes. It was a difficult but very interesting task to clothe 1500 children and watch the smiles drawn on their little faces after they wore the new clothes.

The second part of the campaign comprised a series of Eid joy activities, which included interactive field activities with the participation of 1,000 children who were already identified by SEMA as having protection needs. The activities were held in the same previous places (Idleb, Salqin, Kafr Takharim, Al-Janodia, Sharan, Shamarin, Al-Bab and Azaz).

In addition, Eid sweets were distributed to 255 families in Idleb, Kafr Takharim and Sharan, as the protection teams carried out a special activity with the participation of beneficiaries from the protection centers; this activity included making local Eid sweets, and packaging and distributing them to needy families in Idleb, Kafr Takharim and Sharan.

Target groups:

The target groups included the most vulnerable cases affected by the war, Gender-Based Violence cases, Child Protection cases, as well as cases of orphans and people with special needs. These cases were already registered in the records of protection needs in our offices in northern Syria.

The main objective of these activities was to provide psychosocial support to children affected by the war and to create a state of positive social solidarity on religious occasions, bringing joy and happiness to the displaced community most affected by the war.

The response of our supporters has been exceptionally strong and influential this Eid given the difficult living conditions that the Syrian families live, particularly the displaced. In such circumstances, children endure the most difficult living conditions in the world, as all their days in the camps are similar, and getting a trip or new clothes is a real challenge for most displaced families.

Thanks to our generous donors, the joy increased for 2,500 children from the camps of rural Idleb and rural Aleppo. This has been an indication of the great hearts that we address each time and their unlimited giving. Along with 2500 children and families, we say thank you from the heart and we hope that the coming conditions will be better and that the giving hands remain extended for those in need. The season of joy has begun in the camps in northern Syria, and since our young children are the focus of Eid, we were pleased today to accompany them on a tour to buy them new Eid clothes thanks to the wonderful response of the charitable people around the world who supported the Joy and Eid Clothes campaign.

 So far, SEMA’s protection teams have distributed 750 vouchers for 750 children as follows:

- Al Noor Community Center, Shamarin Camps: 233 vouchers.

- Moaz Hospital, Shamarin Camps: 67 vouchers,

- Aamal Sharan Center: 164 vouchers, 

- Basmat Center (Katma - Sharan): 31 vouchers,

- Azaz Child-Friendly Center in Azaz: 55 vouchers,

- Aamal Center, Al-Bab: 68 vouchers and

- Al-Farabi Hospital, Al-Bab: 132 vouchers.

We took into account in our selection the most vulnerable children through vulnerability criteria, as well as the protection gaps of families with a large number of children. We also benefited from the case management lists of the Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence departments.

Our campaign also targeted children with special needs and children beggars, as well as orphans who did not fall within any beneficiaries lists of any other services.

SEMA’s Protection teams distributed Eid clothes and conducted recreational activities in many communities and camps in north of Syria reaching 1170 children.
