FROM THE #MUSLIMBAN TO GUANTANAMO BAY, MUSLIM RIGHTS ARE SLIPPING AWAY

President Trump's #MuslimBan is proof that his administration is intent on continuing the criminalization of Muslims in the War on Terror. Rather than waiting to see what comes down the pipeline, the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms is gearing up to stand up and fight back!

INSTITUTIONALIZED ISLAMOPHOBIA IS REAL

Islamophobia is deeply embedded in post 9/11 counter-terrorism policies and that is why we have seen Muslims get criminalized by material support for terrorism laws, FBI sting operations, and a host of other laws and policies. The Trump administration is also reportedly considering designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization which will effectively chill Muslim American civil society and potentially increase the number of Muslims who have are targeted by material support for terrorism laws. Muslim human and civil rights are under attack in the United States and it is important that we now more than ever, prepare a comprehensive community defense system.

PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITY IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

The National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms (NCPCF) is committed to protecting the Muslim community and developing mechanisms that empower them through legal support and knowledge acquisition. We are specifically seeking to raise funds for the following community defense initiatives:

Launching a new website with an extensive resource list and library on preemptive prosecutions, thought crimes, material support for terrorism laws, Islamophobia, and many other laws and policies of the War on Terror
Conducting teach-ins and trainings on the #MuslimBan and institutionalized Islamophobia more broadly

TOGETHER WE RISE

None of us is as strong as all of us. With your help, we can make sure that the Muslim community has the tools it needs to fight back against racism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia by putting real and concrete systems in place to challenge oppression. When we fight, we win.

Why Do We Exist?

Muslim imprisonment under the umbrella of the War on Terror has dramatically increased. In fact the founder of the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms was a political prisoner named Sami Al-Arian, a computer engineering professor at University of South Florida, detained for over 5 years for advocating against the use of state secrets in a vicious government campaign. Recognizing the urgency to create an organization that combated post 9/11 abuses that disproportionately impact Muslims, Dr. Al-Arian helped found the National Coalition to Protect Civil Freedoms. The NCPCF rose out of the need to:

Directly serve Muslim prisoners and their families because of the stigma, isolation, and barriers to legal justice that they face.
Combat the myriad of national security policies that disproportionately impacts Muslims

Our coalition includes organizations such as the Muslim Legal Fund of America, the Center for Constitutional Rights, ICNA Council for Social Justice, and Defending Dissent Foundation, amongst others. The NCPCF is one of the only organizations that works to support this community and that's why we need your help!
