At The Muslim Unity Center, we have licensed infant through kindergarten programs that run all year round. The Children's Academy is required to have designated play areas with licensed play structures for each age group. Also, on Saturdays andSundays we have Arabic and Islamic classes for children 4 to 12 years of age. Children who attend Saturday and Sunday Islamic classes will be more interested in coming to the Masjid when there is a modern, clean, safe and welcoming play area of them.

During the warmer months, The Muslim Unity Center hosts many family focused gatherings and functions where children spend most of their time outdoors in the Masjid's playground. Therefore, we are in a desperate need of a safe, fun place for all kids to play and hang out.

Our mission is to meet Michigan playground codes by having high standard play surface and structures that serve our Muslim community for at least the next 20 years.  We want the rest of our society to look up to us as an example of true Muslims who value children's safety and development by offering the best we can for them. We want our children to associate fun memories and good times with their Masjid. 

                                             A Safe Outstanding Play Structure is Crucial.  

The Project:

This play structure will serve three main age groups: 

1. Toddlers area: This will have traditional small equipment that offers climbing and sliding for children 6-23 months of age.

2. Preschool area: This will have traditional equipment that offers climbing, sliding, balancing, socializing and pretending area for children 2-5 years old.

3. School age area: This will cater to the needs of children aged 5 to 12. It will have untraditional modern equipment that has been chosen to accommodate children's need of climbing, twisting, balancing, sliding, swinging, and socializing. 

The Muslim Unity Center is currently collecting funds for playground renovation. We are still in need of at least $70,000 for the project's second payment. All funds must be collected prior to May to begin the installation. If we are unable to acquire that amount, construction will be postponed. Basically, it means our children will be without a play structure this summer and indefinitely, until we are able to raise the money.
