As we’d mentioned in our project to undergo a live donor liver transplant for baby Azeeza costs US$47085.41, in Sri Lankan currency approximately 7 million rupees . We have raised US$31345.93 so far including your kind donations. Still we are lacking an amount of US$15739.48, so we’ll be gradually increasing our goal at LaunchGood to meet our actual goal, inshaAllah.

Babay Azeeza, 17 month old baby is suffering with Alagille Syndrome and needs a liver transplantation as soon as possible. Doctors have prescribed to get the transplantation done in India. To do that the family needs approximately 7 million plus travelling and accommodation expenses for the parents. Many organizations have come forward in helping this child and the parents were able to collect a sum of 3 million. They need more funds to help their child live. IiWords- an online writers group collaborating with CareStation- an NGO would like to raise some funds to help these parents fulfill their need, inshaAllah.

Her Story

This child had been diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome and currently on supportive treatments and she is following up at Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Sri Lanka. Since the response for the current treatment is poor, the best way to manage her condition is with a liver transplantation as early as possible. This needs to be done in India as currently we do not have this treatment modality for children in Sri Lanka.

What is Alagille Syndrome?
Alagille Syndrome is a genetic condition that results in various symptoms in different parts of the body, including the liver. A person with Alagille syndrome has fewer than the normal number of small bile ducts inside the liver. The liver is the organ in the abdomen that makes blood proteins and bile, stores energy and nutrients, fights infection, and removes harmful chemicals from the blood.

Baby Azeeza, living in Mattakkuli, Colombo is the last child of the family. Her father is a driver and their entire family depends on his monthly wadge that barely covers up their cost of living. Azeeza has two older siblings, too. Thus they are at great financial stress. Their monthly income is insufficient to cover up medical bills of the child.

She needs liver transplantation done in India

Baby Azeeza needs to go to Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Chennai for management of Liver Ailment.

 Plan of Treatment – Living Donor Liver Transplantation

Duration of Stay – 21 days in ward 3 months in guest house.

The Approximate cost of surgery – 7 Million Rupees with travelling and accommodation expenses of the parents to India. 

So far, the parents along with charity organizations have collected a sum of 3 million Rupees. The presidential fund has granted LKR 500,000.

They are running short of more funds. As a small writers group we believe we can help this child per our capacity and thus we are running this campaign in the hope of raising a small amount of funds to cover up her medical expenses.
