As-Salaamu-Alaikum

We live in changing times, where hate speech, access to weapons, and social media have come together to challenge our sense of security and peace no matter where we live around the globe.

We trust in Allah and what He has decreed in His wisdom, and we also need to deliver on the trust the community has placed in ICOI to provide a safe and peaceful environment for you and your families attending programs there. The growing costs of security is the reality of the burden we live with as a faith community subject to despicable hate speech and unpredictable violence. 

In 2018, ICOI spent $80,000 in security related costs, comprising $50,000 for Irvine Police Department fees for Friday security and $30,000 in private armed and unarmed guards for various programs, including Weekend School. We need to expand this to provide for additional security guards during the weekdays and evening programs and upgrade our surveillance capabilities. 

We are asking for your support to raise $60,000 in the next 45 days to cover these additional costs for 1 year, including during Ramadan 2019. The money raised will go exclusively to security related services, technology and training to keep ICOI Safe and Peaceful for All.
