Beneficent is a non-profit organization (NFP #966679-6) operating since 2016, run by a team of dedicated volunteers. We provide interest-free loans for those in need, rooted in compassion and financial empowerment. With your donations, we can grow our lending pool, in order to support a larger number of borrowers seeking financial independence.
We started at the grassroots level, helping community members out of debt through crowdfunding. What started as a group of students raising money to assist their friend out of credit card debt eventually led to Beneficent. At Beneficent, we envision a world where people are able to seek financing options rooted in empowerment.
As we continue to gain momentum, we invite you join us in helping relieve the strain of debt by donating generously to this campaign and sharing it so others can share in the reward.
Here's how your contribution helps others:
To date, we have helped 28 borrowers out of crippling debt, providing a total of $61,979 in interest-free loans. In parallel, we continue to provide our borrowers with financial coaching, as we are committed to their financial independence.
Furthermore, in order to accomplish our goal towards financial empowerment, we host various events and workshops to assist community members. Recently, we hosted a free community tax clinic and aim to host more relevant workshops and events. Additionally, we are committed to promoting financial literacy through Beneficent’s social media education campaigns (visit our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn to see for yourself!)
Our Goals for 2019
Beneficent is currently in the process of obtaining charity status with the CRA so we can provide tax receipts to our donors.
We built a fundraising team and are actively applying for grants & sponsorships to grow our lending pool
We are in the process of establishing an education program and aim to host workshops and events geared towards financial health and literacy
