Zaman International - Building Hope One Person at a Time

 

The story of Zaman International begins in 1996 when Zaman Founder and President Najah Bazzy, a Transcultural Clinical Nurse Specialist, was caring for an infant diagnosed with terminal cancer. After visiting the family’s home, she was shocked by their sparse living conditions.  Najah was inspired and determined to harness the community's efforts to help struggling families. She asked community members to donate furniture, food, clothing and household goods for households in need. The support and need for such efforts quickly increased, encouraging Zaman to formalize in 2004.

In 2004, Zaman International- Hope for Humanity officially became an NGO committed to addressing basic needs and empowering marginalized women and children through relief and development programs. By 2014, Zaman International has helped more than 570,000 individuals locally and abroad, distributed over 250 tons of food and 47,000 meals to families in need across Southeastern Michigan, and provided disaster and relief efforts in 11 different countries.

The success and continued growth of Zaman International is a direct result of our impact on the ground and community trust and support. As we approach our 10^th year anniversary, we are embracing our growth with the purchase of our Hope for Humanity Center, a 40,500 sq foot building in Inkster. The Hope for Humanity Center will consolidate all our programs in one location, give us the opportunity to provide more services to even more people, and offer our dedicated volunteers one place to come and help.

A Bigger Home for Zaman, A Bigger Home for the Community

We need your support now more than ever! Zaman is proud to announce that we are growing our presence in the community with the purchase of a new 40,500 sq foot warehouse space that will help us serve more women and children in our region and around the world.  The Hope for Humanity Center will allow us consolidate all our programs in one location, as well as give us the opportunity to provide more services to even more people.  We will empower these households by making the donation process a hands-on shopping experience rather than a hand-out. Our extensive training courses will transition the marginalized women from dependency to self-reliance.  And our consolidated location will provide a sense of security and stability for individuals who rarely experience such comfort.
