As we reach the middle of this Holy Month of Ramadan, I pray that you and your family and loved ones have had blessed days, and that the second half of Ramadan will be filled with serenity and peace. 

Many of us take our blessings for granted; yet the war in Yemen demonstrated how everything can be taken away without any warning.  The people have lost peace, homes, jobs, and even their ability to provide a meal a day for their families and loved ones. 

The Quran recounts multiple times the reward for those who feed the hungry.

"أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ ١٤ يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ١٥ أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ ١٦ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ ١٧ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ١٨"

“Or feeding, on a day of severe hunger, an orphaned relative, or a needy person in distress. And to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to perseverance and urge each other to compassion. These are the people of the right.” (Qur’an 90:14-18)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to have said: “An individual should not eat until they feed someone who is hungry.”

Al-Matammah and Al-Motoon Districts – Al-Jawf Governorate

Al-Matammah and Al-Matoon are districts in Al-Jawf Governorate that house over 100,000 people. The local people continue to bear the brunt of the ongoing conflict. 

Families struggle to make their ends meet. Their living condition has dramatically deteriorated at the household level, leaving them vulnerable to preventable diseases. Children experience a very high rate of malnutrition. 

Moreover, hundreds of displaced families have taken shelters in both districts.  Their living condition at the random IDP settlements is even far worse than that of the host communities. 

YRRF provided 200 families (600 people) with food baskets targeting the most vulnerable families.

Thank you very much for your very generous donations.  I am happy to share with you that we have reached 2,818 families this Holy Month of Ramadan with food baskets that feed each family for one month.  We still have 100 food baskets to distribute tomorrow insha-Allah.  By the end of Ramadan, we would have provided  35,016 meals to 17,508 people. We also supported over 350 orphans with monthly funds and Eid funds.  Finally, we are planning to support the orphans this Eid, this Sunday, with bags of goodies.  All funds donated go to provide services to those in need. 

May God reward you for supporting our work in Yemen.

Salaam Alikum wa Rahmat Allah Wa Barakatuh,

Alhamed lillah, we were able to reach 2000 families to date this Ramadan with food baskets feeding 12000 family members for one month.  We are grateful to all our supporters who made this possible.  We will continue to provide baskets as donations come in because we know how crucial this work is.  Unfortunately, what we feared most occurred with COVID19 spreading and calming many lives.  

The head of the UN Refugee agency in Yemen today said:
"We know that the immunity among the population is very low. We are speaking here about people who maybe eat once a day." Mr Bouze said.

As we approach Laylat Algadar, I pray that you and your loved ones will be safe and be engulfed in Allah's mercy.

We are delighted to share that to date, this holy Ramadan, we have reached 1750 families with food baskets from all the donations we have received.  That means we reached 10,500 people providing them meals for a whole month.   We are grateful for your support and wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and safe last 10 days of Ramadan.  Bless you all.

May God Reward you for feeding the needy.  in Sura 76, Ayas 8-9 describe your actions beautifully. 

وَيُطعِمونَ الطَّعامَ عَلىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسكينًا وَيَتيمًا وَأَسيرًا"

إِنَّما نُطعِمُكُم لِوَجهِ اللَّهِ لا نُريدُ مِنكُم جَزاءً وَلا
شكورًا

They give food, for the love of Him,

to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner, [saying,] ‘We feed you only for the sake of Allah.We do not want any reward from you nor any thanks.
