We are back and we need your help for another year.
For the third year in a row, and in the spirit of Eid, we’re collecting used clothing from around Lebanon and setting up shop to give FREE clothes to the less fortunate and we need your help and donations to keep this initiative alive after funding stopped. In order to do this, we need $30,000 to cover the cost of the store rent ($450/month), storage ($500/month), renovation, dry ($400/month) cleaning ($200/month), packaging ($300/month), and labor ($500/month), Eid Taxi ($300/month), Eid Souq in Ramadan (Bazaar) and monthly visits to camps for delivery ($500/month) until the end of this year. EID DRESS AND EID MORNING
The Eid dress is an article that is more than just clothing -- it is a celebration. It is picked out after glossing over and rummaging through dozens of dresses before the perfect one is found. If it has to be stitched, weeks are spent on what it should look like. It hangs solitary in the closet, beaming from a corner until it is taken out on the eve of Eid. From then, it sat, crisp and pressed, on the bedside, waiting for the morning as eagerly as we do. At Dawn, the dress adorns us at the Eid prayer and becomes part of a special memory that we will cherish forever. Indeed, there is no Eid without that one dress.
Tyab el 3eed is a campaign designed to bring the joy of the Eid dress to those who cannot afford the luxury of the Eid dress. With clothes that are donated, we will set up a unique store, where the less fortunate can walk in, choose, mix, match, try on, multiple articles of clothing before they find the perfect one. And once they do, they get 100% off on the purchase -- after all, Eid is about the spirit of sharing.
Tyab el 3eed not only allows more and more people -- men, women, children -- to indulge in the merriment of Eid, but also preserves their dignity.
Instead of hand-outs from a stall, they are given the shopping experience, which is so essential to the family experience. As they partake in choosing their own dresses, they live -- for a few hours -- the life that we often take for granted.
