Our brother, community member and dear friend Syed needs our help!

An international student from Pakistan studying engineering, Syed Hussain quickly became an integral member of our greater campus community at Wayne State University.  No matter how bad my day might have gone, he is one of those special people who can unequivocally put a smile on my face.  To pay his tuition and living costs, Syed split his time between working part-time for the university and studying, while always making time to keep in touch with close friends.  In our years of friendship, Syed's positive attitude never changed.

Cancer

Two years ago, Syed shared some difficult news with me.  His mother was diagnosed with cancer and was scheduled to undergo surgery.  In spite of their personal struggles, his family members did their best to continue supporting him financially for the remaining tuition his own income could not cover.  While his mother's health and his financial situation put a great deal of stress on him, his positive demeanor never changed.  In spite of his challenges, he was always eager to ask others how they were doing and would only request prayers for his family.  Before he graduated, it appeared as though his mother's cancer was in remission.  

The cancer returned

Syed recently graduated and got back in touch with me.  Unfortunately, his mother's cancer has returned and she is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Due to the immense cost of the medications and procedures, his family is no longer able to support him financially.  Because he has graduated and no longer holds student status, he cannot continue his old job with the university.  While he is interviewing for jobs, the first of his tuition repayments is due in early October.  

How can you help?

In this difficult time, we are asking for donations in order to help Syed fulfill his obligation for tuition repayment.  His total tuition payment is $8000, but he has been able to work out a payment plan with the school.  Our goal with this campaign is to raise enough for his October deadline. 

If you are able to contribute, please donate and let us do our best to help our brother.  Any help you can provide would be of an immense benefit.  If you cannot offer any financial support, remember that your prayers are invaluable to him and his family.
