Let’s be with those affected by the ongoing conflict in northeastern Syria. Help provide them with the healthcare services that they deserve.

#BeWithThem campaign

In light of the current conflict in northeastern Syria, new waves of displacement have begun towards areas and camps in northeastern Syria and northwestern Iraq,

In order to avoid the deterioration of the health situation of IDPs, SEMA US is working to ensure the medical needs through its medical centers in the Kurdistan region, by providing healthcare services to IDPs and to refugees living in the camps.

SEMA US is working to provide healthcare services to displaced people in the Kurdistan Region through two medical centers. The number of expected beneficiaries is up to 1500 per month.

These two centers were recently opened in October 2019, after a series of communication and coordination with the Ministry of Health and INGOs in the region, especially the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to identify the most important health needs there, and to benefit from their long experience that they’ve gained from dealing with emergency crises and responding to the needs of IDPs and refugees.

‘Mamilian’ and ‘ Garmawa’ centers provide general and specialized counseling services for children, provide community health services, and raise health awareness in the host community. In addition to the provision of referral services (two ambulances provided by the Directorate of Health that transport critical cases to hospitals), as well as a free pharmacy that provides all essential medicines and drugs free of charge. The centers also serve as second-class medical points according to the WHO classification.

According to the UN Migration Agency, more than 500,000 Iraqi and 253,000 Syrian refugees who are still currently living in camps for internally displaced people (IDPs) in Iraq, and need protection, assistance and health care.

SEMA US is a U.S based nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable healthcare organization working to provide high quality healthcare and medical education for people in need worldwide. SEMA US has no association with political systems, parties, or ideologies.

Be with us and support our campaign #BeWithThem

Let’s be with them, help them endure the circumstances they found themselves in because of their displacement, and provide them the appropriate health care services that they deserve.

The current situation of new IDPs from northeast Syria across the border into Iraq

Since the begining of October, over 14,000 refugees from north-east Syria have fled across the border into Iraq, carrying with them nothing but a few personal belongings. Tens of thousands of more people are expected to arrive in the coming weeks and days. Many have fled to Duhok, Iraq. 75 percent of refugees are women and children (UNHCR) which are among the most vulnerable populations in crisis situations.

Our primary healthcare center at #Garmawa Camp in Duhok, Kurdistan Region-Iraq serves displaced persons and people in need who otherwise would not have access to healthcare. Here, they receive free medications and services.

We are grateful for the skilled and dedicated care the staff of the center provide. Everyday, they save lives with compassion and bring hope to the region.

SEMA US is glad to support this primary healthcare center and serve the people of Garmawa Camp.

We're campaigning funds to support this primary healthcare center and others in the region. If you're able, would you make a donation today?

The Situation of Mamilian Camp in Iraq

Mamilian Camp Iraq hosts many refugees and displaced persons residing in Duhok Governate in the Kurdish Region of Iraq. We wanted to give you an update on the current situation.

The recent escalation in violence has meant more than 11,292 refugees have crossed from Syria into Iraq since October 14th (UNHCR Syria). The number of arrivals has doubled from an average of 731 new arrivals per day to an average of 1,545 per day (IMPACT Initiatives).

There are nearly 400,000 internally displaced persons and refugees in Duhok. Mamilian Camp, in particular, has many Yazidis, Muslims, Yarsanis and Christians.

SEMA US opened a primary healthcare center earlier in 2019 in response to the needs of refugees and a gap in primary healthcare services. The center provides primary healthcare services to many in need who would otherwise not have access to a healthcare.

This is important work and we're campaigning funds to support this primary healthcare center and others in the region. If you're able, would you make a donation today?
