IRADA appeal your support to fund purchasing a new wheelchair accessible mini bus for enhancing the access of people with disability to vocational training which will turn them to productive people.
Siham Awida who has a physical disability and use a wheelchair was waiting on the road for a taxi to take her to training workshop,but unfortunately; long time passed and no driver stopped. Finally there was one car that stopped for Siham. The driver looked out the car window asking Siham sarcastically, how you will get in the car with your wheelchair. Siham was disturbed by his ugly words and with a strong voice, she told him “I can ride without your help”. The driver laughed and then lift Siham, and after he went for a distance not long, he came back to Siham and said in the same tone of irony “show me how you will get in the car by yourself”. Siham replied "I do not need to use your car, go away".
Ugly words, no driver stops, need someone to get you in the car, and unsafe conditions in the road…..Difficult situations that people with disability (PwD) urged to pass through due transportation inaccessibility in the Gaza strip. In fact, the absence of transportation adapted for the use of (PwD) makes them vulnerable to several situations that hurt their feelings and prevent them from accessing to their rights in education, training, work, health and others.
IRADA center is nonprofit vocational training center for people with disability (PwD)in the Gaza strip, licensed from the Palestinian Labor Ministry. The center established in 2012 with vision “people with disability fully integrated and have pioneer roles at the local community”. IRADA beliefs that the vocational training is the best way to equip PwD with practical skills in occupations inline with the labor market needs, thus enhancing their job opportunities. Since 2012 to 2016, IRADA trained and employed more than 800 people with physical, and hearing disability. they became productive person instead of being charity cases.
يسعى مركز إرادة من خلال الحملة إلى توفير باص موائم لاستخدام ذوي الإعاقة الحركية من مستخدمي الكراسي المتحركة في قطاع غزة واستخدامه بهدف تسهيل وصولهم للتدريب المهني الذي سيحولهم لكوادر منتجة.
كانت سهام عويضة وهي من ذوات الإعاقة الحركية وتستخدم كرسي متحرك تنتظر على الطريق لتوقف سيارة أجرة لتقللها لحضور ورشة تدريبية. ومر وقت طويل ولم يقف أي سائق لسهام. وأخيراً وقفت سيارة أجرة وقال السائق لسهام بنبرة ساخرة: "كيف ستركبي بكرسيك المتحرك؟". تضايقت سهام من كلام السائق وقالت بصوت قوي " أستطيع أن أركب لوحدي بدون مساعدتك"،ضحك السائق وترك سهام ليتحرك بالسيارة لمسافة ليست طويلة ثم يعود لها قائلاًبسخرية: "أريني كيف ستركبي لوحدك في السيارة. فردت عليه قائلة:" لست بحاجة لاستخدام سيارتك، اذهب من هنا".
كلمات جارحة، السائقين لايتوقفون، الحاجة لأشخاص لحملك داخل السيارة، مواقف خطرة بالطريق....كلها مواقف صعبة يتعرض لها الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة نتيجة عدم وجود مواصلات موائمة في قطاع غزة. والحقيقة أن غياب المواصلات المجهزة لاستخدام ذوي الإعاقة جعلتهم عرضة دائماً لمواقف تجرح مشاعرهم وتمنع وصولهم لحقوقهم بالتعليم والتدريب والعمل والصحة وغيرها من الحقوق.
مركز إرادة يختص بتقديم التدريب المهني للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، وهو حاصل على ترخيص من وزارة العمل الفلسطيني كمركز تدريب مهني. تم انشاء المركز في العام 2012 برؤيا" ذوي إعاقة مندمجون وأصحاب أدوار ريادية في المجتمع". وخلال 5 سنوات تم تدريب وتشغيل أكثر من 800 شخص من ذوي الإعاقة، وكان لمشاريع إرادة الأثر الايجابي بتحسين الظروف الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والنفسية للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
