Please support me in attending a women's empowerment and leadership conference at the end of July!

I am Dina Safi, a 21 years old Palestinian girl from Gaza, with a dream to attend a leadership and women empowerment conference in Boston!

Three wars have happened in my lifetime there.

I have never been out of Gaza, which is considered as an open air prison. I went through a lot of hard times in my hometown, because of it's tough life conditions, in addition of being a girl there, which made it even harder for me.

But now, I have been chosen to attend a conference about women empowering and leadership training in Boston, that made me closer to meet my dream of learning and understanding different people, cultures, and also to improve my leadership skills, which always have been my dream.

"Women to women 2017 conference" will allow me to meet successful leaders, improves my leadership skills, and gives me the chance to inspire other women all over the world.

My mission is to work hard to raise awareness among both young and old women and men about how important is gender equality in the society.

Helping me will make it easier for me to pursue my dream and be able to attend the conference. After the finish of my training, my plan is to start a small project in Gaza, to raise awareness among Gazan girls about their rights, discuss the most challenging issues that we face, and work to try making things in Gaza better for women.

My story

After I graduated high school, I studied dentistry for two years, despite it wasn't my passion and what I wanted to do. I thought it would be the right decision because it can help me to be an independent person. After that, I made one of the toughest decisions in my life, and I changed my major into architecture engineering, because thats where my real passion was, and what I always wanted to do.

I have experienced three wars here in Gaza, and that was a tough experience, I always needed a sort of something new to refresh me after such tough times, but the situation in my hometown is complicated so I was never able to refresh my energy and my mental health, and It's even harder for a girl to go through new life experiences.

When I was 16, I have been chosen to travel to Nairobi, Kenya, to represent Palestine in a conference about women rights. but I was not able to travel because of the closing of Rafah border.

I got hired by the American Consulate in Access Microscholarship as a volunteer, to teach english language for two years, after that I was recommended  to be a teaching assistant by my teacher, to teach English language for children in Camp Discovery for one round. I ended up teaching for two rounds according to my mangers request due to my hard work.

When I was 20, I started a small project funded by the American Consulate and I was the leader of a group of ten members who I considered each of them as a potential future leader.

The project aimed to provide psychological support for orphans and unknown parents children in Gaza, I made sure to involve girls in the team even though it was a very hard task, the project ended successfully with high evaluations, thanks to the team work and the hard work my team members put.

At the last day of the project.

Personalized donations:

Women to women organization granted me a $1,000 as an appreciation for my leadership skills but I still need another $7,000 to attend the conference so I can be able to help the women of my society, also to have such an amazing new life experience, and to be able to speak in the conference about the challenges that Gazan women go through, and the right method to deal with them.

In addition to that, I will be able to meet different people with different cultures and get to know what a travel experience really feels like!
