SOLD at 6 years old

I was heartbroken to learn, that a 6-year-old was sold by her mother, so the entire household can eat.  This story was reported on CNN, on 22 November by Nick Paton Walsh from Herat, Afghanistan.  

Sad reality

She is an innocent adorable little doll, whose dad died in the war, and her mother decided to sell her for $3,000, out of which she has received $70, and probably within 3 years, she will be sold.  Therefore, an effort was made to save her before it is too late.

How our organization is trying to help

Uproot reached out to Mrs. Neel Khairzda, Director of Public Relations, and Mr. Jonathan Hawkins Vice President at CNN, for help, and on April 7th, 2019 the family was found.  

Shakil Tabassum, the President, visited the family on April 27th, 2019, along with Mohammad Payam Aziz, former Chief of Staff to the Governor Asif Rahmim, Mr. Akiwa, and Journalist Mr. Shapoor Saber, who conducted the video interview.   https://www.uprootpoverty.org/copy-of-campaigns

Uproot was able to raise $3,015 from Launchgood, Google One Today, and Allstate Insurance.  This entire amount was provided to the family and a bank account was opened.  Still, the family needs much more help, so Uproot can relocate them to a safer place, and be able to send kids to school.  Therefore, please give generously.

Purpose of this fundraising is the following:

• Akila, the 6-year-old was rescued from slavery, lifelong anguish, poverty and from being sold.

Uproot didn't deduct a single dime from the donation.  100% of travel expenses were absorbed by the President.
