More than half of the population is facing acute hunger. Malnutrition rates among children are increasing. Babies—some just one day old—are fighting to survive.

People across Sudan are dying from a lack of food, clean water, shelter, and medical assistance. Many have fled to neighbouring countries in search of safety.

The people of Sudan continue to endure immense hardship, as hunger and malnutrition are rampant and famine has been confirmed in at least 10 locations.

At the UNHCR-run health center in Chad’s Iridimi settlement, mothers wait in long lines seeking treatment for their malnourished children. Among them is 22-year-old Mowada, a Sudanese refugee who fled shortly after the conflict erupted and has lived in Iridimi for nearly two years. She has already lost one child to malnutrition and now fears history may repeat itself.

A UNHCR truck carrying emergency shelter kits was hit by a drone in North Darfur, Sudan. It was on its way to Tawila, where hundreds of thousands of people have fled for safety.

The driver survived. The supplies did not.

More than 1,300 families are now left without the supplies they urgently needed.

Attacks like this are unacceptable. They put lives at risk and deepen an already devastating crisis. Civilians must be protected. Humanitarian workers must be protected.
