raised of $75,000 USD goal
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity where people come together to support the causes that keep their communities alive. For MAAC, it has always been the moment our community chooses safety, dignity, and protection for domestic violence survivors. It is the day we collectively decide that no woman or child should face a crisis alone.
This year, the meaning of Giving Tuesday has changed for us.
It is not just about supporting survivors.
It is about keeping MAAC standing so we can continue supporting them at all.
For years, MAAC has raised funds to make sure domestic violence survivors receive culturally responsive, trauma-informed support when they need it most. Donor contributions have helped us provide emergency housing, mental-health programs, youth support, and essential items like diapers, food, transportation, and safety supplies.
In 2025, everything shifted.
MAAC lost $412,000 in grant support this year that previously kept our programming running. This loss affected every part of our organization. Operational costs, staffing, outreach, supplies, and the basic infrastructure needed to serve survivors were all impacted. Programs that once supported hundreds of families are now at risk, while the demand for crisis support continues to rise.
To put it simply, MAAC is doing everything it can to stay alive.
We are currently underfunded by $75,000, and our administrative staff have gone 3 months without pay just to keep services running. We cannot sustain this. This is why we are turning to our community for support.
Without restored funding, MAAC cannot sustain essential services that women, youth, and families rely on. The work at risk includes domestic violence advocacy, crisis intervention, youth prevention programs, culturally responsive support services, and emergency resources for families in immediate danger.
This Giving Tuesday, your donation directly supports MAAC’s stability during a year of historic funding cuts. Your gift ensures survivors are not turned away, programming remains free and accessible, and families continue receiving the culturally grounded support they trust.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps protect vulnerable women and children who have nowhere else to turn.
Muslimahs Against Abuse Center is a Black woman-led, community-rooted nonprofit serving BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, and Muslim women and families across King County. Our work spans domestic violence advocacy, mental-health programming, youth empowerment, and culturally responsive community care. For many survivors, MAAC is the only space that feels safe, familiar, and trustworthy.
This year has tested our resilience in ways we never expected. MAAC has continued showing up for the community even as our own foundation has been shaken. Today, we need the community to show up for MAAC.
Your donation helps us restore lost funding, sustain our operations, and keep our programs running for survivors and vulnerable families. Help us rebuild what was taken. Help us remain a lifeline for those who need us most.
Give today.
Stand with MAAC.
Help ensure our doors remain open to every woman and child who needs a safe place to turn.
