All living beings – humans, birds, animals, insects etc. – are worthy of consideration and respect. Islam has always viewed animals as a special part of God’s creation. Mankind is responsible for whatever it has at its disposal, including animals whose rights must be respected. The Holy Qur’an, the Hadith, and the history of Islamic civilization offer many examples of kindness, mercy, and compassion for animals. According to Islamic principles, animals have their own position in the creation hierarchy and humans are responsible for their well-being and food.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) exhorted Muslims to show kindness and compassion towards animals and birds, and repeatedly forbade cruelty towards animals.

At Lucky Animal Protection Shelter, we are the only rescue shelter for street dogs in Northern Pakistan. Every month, we care for over 260 dogs at our shelter and feed an additional 50 neighborhood strays. These dogs depend on us for their survival.

But feeding them is no small task. Imported kibble and canned food are far too expensive, so we’ve taken on the responsibility of preparing homemade, nourishing meals every day.

This requires sourcing protein, wood to fuel our stoves, and paying the dedicated staff who prepare and serve the food. We need your help to keep this vital service running.

Why Your Support is Critical

The food we provide isn’t just about keeping these dogs full—it's about giving them the strength and health they need to recover and live a better life. For many of them, we are their only source of food and safety. Without your generosity, we would not be able to continue our life-saving work.

Our food program sustains dogs who are recovering from injuries, those who are too young to fend for themselves, and others who are too weak to survive on their own. We’ve seen firsthand the difference proper nutrition can make. It can turn a malnourished street dog into a healthy, thriving animal ready for a chance at adoption or simply a better life.

“A good deed done to an animal is like a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is as bad as cruelty to a human being.” (Mishkat al-Masabih from the Hadith of Bukhari and Muslim)

How Your Donations Help

By donating, you’ll be helping us cover essential costs, including:

• Sourcing Protein: We buy chicken, beef, and other protein sources to create meals for all the dogs in our care.
• Wood for Cooking: We use wood stoves to cook the meals daily, which requires a steady supply of firewood.
• Staff Salaries: We employ dedicated staff to prepare the food, ensuring that every meal is freshly made with care.

Why Monthly Donations Make a Difference

A monthly donation provides us with a steady, reliable source of funding, which is essential for managing our food supply and ensuring we can meet the daily needs of our dogs. Your ongoing support means we can focus on what matters most—caring for the dogs and improving their lives—without the constant worry of meeting food expenses.

What Your Monthly Donation Can Provide:

• $50 per month feeds 5 dogs with nourishing, homemade meals.
