Grenfell Tower Fire

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, at least 12 people are confirmed dead following a major fire that engulfed the Grenfell Tower block in West London. Over 70 people are being treated in five hospitals, 20 of whom are in critical care, and hundreds of others evacuated from their homes.

The Metropolitan police said that it expected the number of fatalities to rise further as a result of the blaze that broke out shortly before 1am.

At the fire's peak, over 200 firefighters were at the scene along with 40 engines, a range of specialist vehicles and 20 ambulance crews attending to victims.

Islamic Relief's Response

The Islamic Relief team is on the ground now assessing how we can help. As an immediate response we have provided thousands of water bottles and allocated £10,000 from the emergency fund to help those affected by this tragedy.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the victims and their families providing food, clothing and essentials.
