Our Story

Say Somaali is a Black youth-led, grassroots organization that aims to increase the number of successful and self-fulfilled Somali youth in Toronto. We believe this can be achieved by providing youth with mentorship from experienced Somali community members, creating safe spaces for building a sense of belonging and connection based on shared identity and experience, and offering opportunities for personal growth and development. At Say Somaali, we believe that investing in our youth is investing in the future of our community.

The Say Somaali Community Scholarship Fund

In 2021, we created a community scholarship to support Somali students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to giving back. This scholarship help ease the financial burden of post-secondary education, covering tuition fees, textbooks, and related costs. We envision a future where Somali students are not only succeeding in their fields, but also uplifting their communities.

Why your support matters

Last year, thanks to our donors, we awarded scholarships to students pursuing degrees in fields like public health, political science, biomedical engineering, and education.

Every scholarship awarded was a real investment in the next generation of Somali leaders, change-makers, and role models.

This year, our goal is to raise $30,000, to expand the number of students we can support and continue building cycles of success within our community.

100% of donations go directly to supporting students , no admin fees deducted

When we lift our youth, we lift our whole community! Jazaka'Allahu khairan for your donation!

May Allah place barakah in your giving and make it a source of ongoing reward. Ameen!
