In December 2026, I will be partaking in the Durdle Door Sister’s Charity Hike, in support of Al Isharah.

Why am I fundraising?

Have you ever paused to think about how a Deaf person learns to pray, recite the Qur’an, or access Islamic knowledge?

For many Deaf Muslims, these fundamental aspects of faith are not easily accessible.

For over 15 years, Al Isharah has been supporting the Deaf Muslim community by providing:

• Specialist Islamic education for Deaf children and adults
• Accessible resources to help Deaf Muslims worship Allah (Swt) with understanding
• The pioneering and vital project of translating the Qur’an into British Sign Language (BSL)

This work is not a luxury, it is a right. Al Isharah is fulfilling a communal obligation (fard kifayah) on behalf of the wider Ummah.

Why it matters

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“When a person dies, all their deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.”
(Sahih Muslim)

By supporting this hike, your donation becomes Sadaqah Jariyah, an ongoing charity that continues to benefit others long after we are gone. Your generosity will help Deaf Muslims learn how to pray, make wudhu, fast, make du‘a, and access the Qur’an in a language they understand.

Through initiatives such as the BSL Qur’an translation, thousands of Deaf Muslims will be able to connect with the Book of Allah in a meaningful and personal way for the first time.
