Across Indonesia, water is not always as easy to access as turning on a tap. In communities affected by drought, families, students, and pesantren residents are forced to travel long distances just to find enough water for their daily needs.

In South Malang, the dry season has made access to clean water increasingly difficult. At Madrasah Diniyah and TPQ Roudlotul Jannah, students have to walk approximately 1 kilometer to collect water for essential needs such as wudu and sanitation.

For these students, water is more than a basic necessity. It is part of their daily worship, learning, and life. Today, we invite you to help bring clean water closer to those who need it most. Every drop can make a difference.

The Water Crisis in Indonesia, When Clean Water Becomes a Daily Struggle

For many communities experiencing drought, getting clean water is a daily challenge. At Pondok Pesantren Al Ikrom Sampang, the nearest water source is approximately 1.5 kilometers away from the pesantren. To meet their daily needs, the pesantren must also purchase water delivered by tankers, costing around IDR 350,000 for every 5,000 liters.

The burden becomes even heavier when water is needed regularly for drinking, sanitation, cleaning, and worship.

A similar situation is faced by PP Tahfidzul Quran Al Wahidiyah, home to 60 students who dedicate their days to memorizing the Qur’an. Their water supply depends on wells and water tankers that need to be delivered every three days.

When water is difficult to access, even the simplest daily activities become a struggle. A kilometer-long walk. A water tanker that must be purchased. A limited supply that has to last for days.

This is the reality faced by communities living through drought.

Our Response, Bringing Clean Water Closer to Those in Need

We believe that access to clean water should not be a privilege. Through this campaign, LMI is working to provide clean water assistance to communities and educational institutions affected by drought across Indonesia.
