Adel and Ahmad are working together again this Ramadan to raise vital funds for those in need.
This year, our focus is on collecting zakat to support orphans and their families in Gaza, helping to restore some sense of stability and normality in unimaginably difficult circumstances. Every contribution will go towards easing hardship and supporting families who need it most during this blessed month.

Adel and Ahmad are both part of a development programme called Sabeel. More information on the programme and wider challenge is below.

Sabeel is a tarbiyyah programme built around people development; helping brothers and sisters grow in īmān, character, and positive impact.

One of the clearest ways this impact shows itself is through our annual Cohort Competition; a Ramadan fundraising campaign where students compete across all our cohorts to raise the most for an urgent cause, in the spirit of competing in goodness for the sake of Allah.

Alhamdulillah, over the last two years, the Sabeel community raised over £2.5 million through our campaign for emergency relief in Gaza. 

This year, we return with an even more focused mission: serving orphans in Gaza.

The Prophet ﷺ gave immense glad tidings for those who care for orphans:

For this campaign, Sabeel is partnering with Muslims In Need (MiN) — a UK-registered charity delivering humanitarian support to over 40 countries, including emergency aid and longer-term support for orphans.

We’ve all seen the devastation that was meted out to the people of Gaza. In any war, the suffering is most acutely felt by the most vulnerable. Thousands of children have been left orphaned. In fact the Gaza Orphan Crisis is considered the worst in modern history. These children haven’t only lost a parent. Many have lost the very basics that make childhood feel like childhood: a stable home, regular food, clean clothes, schooling, medical care, and the simple certainty that someone is there to care for them. We want our students to undertake the responsibility of being at the service of these orphans.

This campaign is about restoring dignity, care, and stability — and helping orphans and vulnerable families rebuild life with support that is consistent, trustworthy, and delivered with compassion. At Sabeel we want our students to commit to giving our best effort to the most rewardable causes, through the most effective delivery possible — all whilst partnering with a charity that has the capability, access, and systems to fulfil our orphan campaign faithfully.

This is an opportunity not just to give, but to gain— Allah tells us:

And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah. And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged. [al-Quran 2:272]

This is a chance to ease the suffering of our Ummah and seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) in this blessed month. Be a part of the effort.
