MYRec B10-11 Thunder: Help Open the Aminah Centre
Our Team Challenge
We’re the MYRec B10-11 Thunder, and we’re taking our teamwork beyond the court! Our goal is to raise $1,000 CAD toward opening Human Appeal’s Aminah Centre in Korangi, Karachi. Our team’s contribution supports the wider project, alongside other teams and donors.
Why Karachi
Children in Korangi face barriers to education, healthcare and safety. The centre will offer a place to learn and receive support.
What Your Donation Supports
Education, meals, healthcare, counselling and protection for children, plus vocational training and livelihood support for women and youth.
Why Human Appeal
Human Appeal already operates an Aminah Centre in Lahore and is bringing this model to Karachi.
Donate and Share
Help the B10-11 Thunder reach $1,000! Give what you can and share our page with five family members or friends.
In Korangi, children work instead of going to school, and girls are pulled out of class early. The Aminah Centre is one safe building that changes that for a whole family:
Human Appeal already runs an Aminah Centre in Lahore. This fundraiser helps open the second.
Please give what you can, then share this page with five people. Every donation brings the centre closer to opening its doors.
Empower Vulnerable Children Through Education, Protection & Livelihoods
In the slums of Korangi, Karachi, thousands of children face a choice between staying in survival mode or taking a step toward hope. They need more than charity they need protection, education, and the skills to build their own futures. This summer, I'm raising funds to bring the proven Aminah Protection, Learning and Empowerment Centre model to Karachi with your help.
For the next 18 months, we're bringing comprehensive support to some of Pakistan's most vulnerable children: out-of-school youth, street children, and families trapped in poverty.
Your donation funds education, vocational training, healthcare, psychosocial support, and entrepreneurship grants that will transform lives. Together, we can give 10,470 direct beneficiaries and 19,500 indirect beneficiaries a real shot at a brighter future.
In the heart of Karachi's underserved communities, thousands of children are growing up without access to education, protection, and opportunities for a brighter future. Through the Aminah Protection, Learning and Empowerment Centre (APLEC), we will create a safe and welcoming space where vulnerable children can learn, receive care, and rebuild hope.
The centre will provide education, vocational skills training, health support, and psychosocial services, helping children stay in school, empowering women and youth with income-generating skills, and strengthening families facing poverty and hardship. More than just a centre, APLEC will be a place where lives are transformed, potential is unlocked, and communities are empowered to build a better future for themselves.
Every child deserves a safe place to learn, dream, and thrive. In Karachi's most vulnerable communities, the Aminah Protection, Learning and Empowerment Centre (APLEC) will offer that opportunity.
By creating a dedicated community hub, we will provide education, protection, healthcare support, counselling, and vocational training to children, women, and youth who face daily challenges of poverty and exclusion. Your support will help turn a simple space into a beacon of hope where lives are changed, futures are rebuilt, and families gain the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty.

In the slums of Karachi's Korangi district, vulnerable children face unimaginable hardships:
- Thousands of children are out of school, trapped in poverty with no pathway to employment
- Street children lack shelter, food, and protection from abuse and exploitation
- Families are unable to afford education, healthcare, or necessities
- Without intervention, the cycle of poverty continues generation after generation
The Statistics:
- 10,470 direct beneficiaries will receive services: children, youth, and families in urgent need
- 19,500 indirect beneficiaries (family members, siblings, extended community) will benefit from improved family and community stability
- The vast majority have experienced trauma, displacement, or family breakdown
- Without access to education and skills training, they face a lifetime of exploitation and poverty
Tonight, a child in Korangi may be sleeping on the street. Tomorrow, they could be in a classroom. Your support makes that choice possible.

Why APLEC?
The Aminah Centre in Lahore has proven this model works in Pakistan. For years, we've reached vulnerable children, met their immediate needs, provided emotional support and protection, and built pathways to long-term futures through education and vocational training.
Now we're bringing this same model to Karachi, because every child deserves a safe place to turn.

Step 1: Reach children through community outreach teams, identifying those who need support most urgently.
Step 2: Meet immediate needs → meals, clothing, healthcare, and safety → so children can focus on rebuilding their lives.
Step 3: Provide protection, emotional support, psychosocial counselling, trauma-informed care, and a trusted adult presence.
Step 4: Build long-term futures through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship support that gives them real employment options.
Our Approach:
We believe lasting change requires more than temporary relief. APLEC combines immediate crisis support with long-term skill-building, so children become independent, self-reliant, and hopeful about their futures.

Non-Formal Education (NFE)
80 out-of-school children will receive foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Education is the pathway out of poverty.
Vocational Training Centers
Three centers will teach practical skills: sewing, electrical work, and graphic design → giving young people real, employable skills and pathways to income.
Healthcare & Wellness
9,000 medical consultations, immunizations, and health screenings ensure vulnerable children have access to care they couldn't otherwise afford.
Psychosocial Support & Counselling
450 individual and group counselling sessions provide trauma-informed emotional support for children who have experienced abuse, displacement, or loss.
Entrepreneurship Grants & Business Support
30 young people will receive business startup grants and mentoring, enabling them to create their own livelihoods and lift their families out of poverty.
Climate & Life Skills Awareness
Workshops in climate resilience, environmental protection, and practical life skills prepare children for the challenges ahead.
Community & Family Support
When children have access to APLEC, their entire families benefit through improved nutrition, reduced stress, and economic stability.

Imagine It Was Your Child
We often forget about vulnerable children in our daily lives. But imagine if it was your daughter, your son, or your little brother who had no one. Imagine if they were sleeping on the streets. Imagine if they couldn't go to school because their family couldn't afford it. Imagine if they had no one to talk to after experiencing abuse.
Every dollar counts. Each donation can mean:
- A meal to fill someone's belly
- A safe place to learn
- Healing through emotional support
- Skills that lead to employment
- Freedom from exploitation
- A future with hope instead of poverty
We have an obligation to help lift vulnerable children toward independence and dignity. When governments are unable or unwilling to act, we must step in. That's the only way systems change.
Supporting APLEC is not a one-time act of charity. It's a sustained commitment that transforms a child's life month by month, year by year, until they can stand on their own.
Protecting vulnerable children is one of the most righteous acts a person can perform. When you support APLEC, your generosity continues to benefit these children long after your initial gift. This is Sadaqah Jariyah, ongoing charity whose reward continues to multiply.
By giving today, you're not just changing one life. You're transforming families, communities, and futures.

What is APLEC?
The Aminah Protection, Learning and Empowerment Centre (APLEC) is a comprehensive program providing education, protection, healthcare, and skill-building for vulnerable children in Karachi's slums. We've proven this model works in Lahore → now we're bringing it to Karachi.
Where does my donation go?
Your donation directly funds: education for out-of-school children, vocational training, healthcare services, psychosocial counselling, and entrepreneurship grants. Our local team uses funds according to the most urgent needs. We transparently report back to you how your donation is being used.
How many children will this support?
APLEC will serve 10,470 direct beneficiaries (including 80 in formal NFE education, 200+ in vocational training, and many more receiving healthcare and counselling). An additional 19,500 indirect beneficiaries (family members and community members) will benefit from improved family stability and community resources.
Will the children receive an education?
Yes. Non-formal education is a core component of APLEC. We provide foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills for out-of-school children. Many will transition to formal schooling or vocational training programs.

Human Appeal has operated the Aminah Protection, Learning and Empowerment Centre in Lahore for years, reaching vulnerable children with comprehensive support, education, healthcare, protection, and livelihood skills. The model works. We've seen it transform lives.
Globally, we sponsor over 50,000 orphans and vulnerable children across 14 countries. In Pakistan specifically, we've proven that the Aminah model delivers results.
Now we're bringing this proven approach to Karachi because the need is just as urgent and the solution is just as effective.
With your support, we can reach more vulnerable children in Karachi's Korangi district. Every donation makes a tangible difference in a child's life.
