Background:

With a lot of blessings from Allah and your enormous donations, Alhamdulillah we could complete the Shinkoiwa Masjid construction around 3 years ago and continuing our operation to serve the Islam in Japan. During the last 3 years, many families have been shifted their residences nearby this masjid and it became a center of Islamic harmony in the community. But we also observed few serious social issues which need to be addressed as soon as possible. Some of the key issues are:

1. Parents, specially the Japanese parents are concerned about giving a proper Islamic education, culture and lifestyle to their children.
2. Young children are facing lack of opportunity to learn Islam.
3. Lack of Islamic education facility is a concern for the converted Muslims or families.
4. Educational and social activities as a Masjid is in-sufficient to address the growing concerns of the people.
5. Often some families are not able to send their children to masjid on a daily basis.
6. Hight cost of Islamic international schools which is difficult to afford for the average income families.
7. Islamic scholar who can explain Islam in Japanese language is very very few.

To address those issues we were looking for a solution and planned something which is basically beyond of our individual ability to implement.

Possible way to address the social issues:

1. If we could establish a center which will allow them to learn as short-term resident/non-resident students or take a full course of regular school educations along with Islam then the current severe social issue can be addressed.
2. Online education with a combination of short-time physical attendance might be helpful for the working parents.
3. Increase the charity funds to facilitate the education because the cost will be higher comparing to the count of participants in this highly expensive country.
4. Create an opportunity for the students and adults so that they can get institutional Islamic education while continuing their regular education and job.

Actions:

Finally!! Alhamdulillah, Shinkoiwa Masjid is extending it's effort to open an institutional Islamic Education center in Tokyo, Japan to address the above social issues.

With the grace of the Almighty Allah, we are very lucky to get the opportunity to purchase the masjid's adjacent land from the Japanese landowner. As soon as they agreed, we have signed the agreement to purchase the land and already paid the initial signing money of around USD $20,000 which we could collect from our local community members instantly.

Just after signing, our local community and volunteers jumped into collecting donations and running towards every corner of Japan.

Project overall estimate for first phase: 

• Price of the Land (with existing old house) and other costs: JPY 60,000,000 (USD $400,000)

Challenges:

Although we are trying our maximum and we believe the Almighty Allah will help us to achieve our goal, but we have some challenges:

1. Only local community funding from Japan will not be enough to pay the full bills.
2. We have time constraints to pay the full payment.
3. The Muslim communities of Japan still appreciates the global financial contribution to enhance the exploration of Islam here
