Winter Appeal 2026

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Whoever clothes a believer who is in need of clothing, Allah will clothe them with the green garments of Paradise.”

Tirmidhi, Hadith 2449

When we hear the word desert, we usually imagine extreme heat, dry land and blazing sunshine. But winter in the desert is very different. Once the sun goes down, temperatures can fall sharply, and the cold desert wind can become extremely difficult to bear. Many poor families do not live in properly insulated concrete homes. Their houses may be built from mud, wood, straw and dry grass, offering very little protection during the coldest nights. For families already struggling with poverty, winter becomes another hardship they simply cannot afford to prepare for.

For an orphaned child, a warm coat, a thick blanket and a good pair of shoes are a luxury. A hot meal or a warm drink can mean so much when the weather turns cold. This winter, Muslim Rose Welfare asks you to help us bring warmth, food, and dignity to orphaned children, vulnerable families, and elderly people across the Tharparkar desert.

Our Story

Muslim Rose Welfare has worked in the Tharparkar region for many years, supporting people living in some of the most difficult conditions. We know these communities personally, and because our team works directly on the ground, we see first-hand the challenges families face throughout the year. At our Firdous Orphanage in Tharparkar, we support and care for orphaned children who have already faced difficulties that no child should have to experience. Many have lost one or both parents, while others come from families living in severe poverty. They need food, clothing, education, medical care, security and, above all, the reassurance that somebody is there for them.

Our work is not simply about meeting basic needs. We want every child we support to grow with dignity, love, education, safety and hope for a better future. During winter, this means helping ensure they have warm clothing, suitable footwear, proper bedding, and enough food for a month to get through the coldest days and nights.

Our Work in 2025

Last winter, Muslim Rose Welfare continued supporting orphaned children and vulnerable families across the region with warm clothing, footwear, winter essentials and food assistance. We also continued providing freshly cooked meals, because during the coldest months a hot meal can bring much more than nutrition. It can bring warmth, comfort and reassurance to someone who may otherwise have gone without.

This year, we have once again started preparing before the harshest cold arrives. Alhamdulillah, Muslim Rose Welfare has already provided around 250 woolly hats,  jumpers, and scarves, together with more than 100 pairs of shoes. Many of these items have supported orphaned children connected with our Firdous Orphanage.

Starting early is important to us. We do not want to wait until children are already suffering from the cold before responding. Our aim is to prepare, protect and reach vulnerable people before winter is at its hardest.

Meals on Wheels – Taking Warmth to Their Door

Our Meals on Wheels programme is an important part of our winter work. Not everyone who needs help can travel to us. Some elderly people can't leave their homes, some families live far away, and others may be unwell or have no one to collect food for them.

Through Meals on Wheels, our team delivers freshly prepared hot meals directly to vulnerable people in the community. For an elderly person sitting alone on a cold evening, a knock at the door and the arrival of a warm meal can mean far more than food. It tells them someone remembered them, someone cared, and someone made the effort to reach them.

What We Want to Provide This Winter

Through our Winter Appeal, we want to provide warm winter clothing, hats, blankets, warm bedsheets, suitable shoes, freshly cooked hot meals, hot soup, warm drinks, food packs and bottled drinking water where required.

These may seem like simple items, but to a family living in poverty they can mean everything. A blanket can mean a warmer night. A pair of shoes can protect a child's feet from the cold ground. A freshly cooked meal can bring strength and comfort after a difficult day.

For families already surviving on very little, winter essentials can also remove painful choices. A mother should not have to choose between buying food and keeping her children warm. A widow should not have to decide whether to buy a blanket or groceries. A father should not have to watch his child walk in worn-out shoes because there simply is not enough money to replace them.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“The one who sponsors an orphan and I will be in Paradise like this,” and he ﷺ held his index and middle fingers close together.

Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 5304.

This Winter, Don't Let an Orphan Sleep Cold

Imagine a child trying to sleep during a freezing desert night. There is no heating, no radiator and no warm bedroom waiting for them. The wind moves through gaps in the walls while the child wraps themselves in whatever clothing or bedding the family already owns.

Now imagine that same child receiving a warm hat, a jumper, a proper pair of shoes, a thick blanket and a freshly cooked meal before going to sleep. The desert has not changed, but that child's night has. They feel warmer, safer and, most importantly, remembered. For a child who has already experienced loss, knowing that somebody somewhere cared enough to help can bring another kind of warmth too — the warmth of compassion, security and hope.

Every contribution, whatever the amount, can help towards warm clothing, blankets, shoes, hot meals, food packs and other essential winter support. When many people give together, those individual donations become something powerful. They become hundreds of meals, hundreds of winter items and real help for families facing the cold.

Call for Action

This winter, please do not let an orphan face the cold alone. Your kindness can place warmth around their shoulders, food in their hands and hope in their heart. Be the reason a child sleeps warm tonight and remembers that someone, somewhere, cared enough to help.

Muslim Rose Welfare has already taken the first steps by distributing warm clothing, hats and shoes before the coldest weather arrives, but there is still much more to do.

Please stand with Muslim Rose Welfare this winter. Help us support orphaned children at Firdous Orphanage, vulnerable families across the Tharparkar desert, and elderly people receiving support through our Meals on Wheels programme.

Your donation can bring warmth to a cold home, put food in front of a hungry child, provide a blanket for an orphan, or deliver a hot meal to an elderly person.

This winter, will you be the reason a child feels warm, safe and remembered in dua?

💬 MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

As this campaign is close to my heart,  our responsibility to orphaned children and vulnerable families continues.

Every donation received has provided more than immediate relief; it has offered dignity, protection, nourishment, education, and hope to children who have already endured unimaginable hardship.

However, many precious children are still waiting for someone to stand beside them.

Please help us finish this campaign with strength and compassion. Your gift could provide a hungry child with food education, a vulnerable family with clean water, or an orphan with the safety and care they have been praying for.

No act of kindness is ever too small. When given with sincerity, it can become the reason a child feels remembered, protected, and loved.

Together, let us ensure that no orphan is left hungry, no vulnerable child is left unsafe, and no innocent child is ever made to feel forgotten.

Please donate generously today and help us end this campaign by giving a vulnerable child the beginning of a brighter future.

With heartfelt gratitude and sincere prayers,

Sarah R. Qayyum
