Remembering Naamaa Issa

Naamaa Issa was born in Japan and grew up between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. She studied business across several countries and worked in different roles throughout her career, always learning and growing.

But beyond her education and professional achievements, Naamaa had a heart for serving others. She dedicated her time and energy to empowering those less fortunate, took a special interest in child psychology and raising children with wisdom and mercy, and continually sought to deepen her understanding of Islam.

Her faith was part of her everyday life. She never made a decision without praying Istikhara, and she set her alarm before Fajr each morning to spend quiet time with Allah before the world awoke.

Through Muslim gatherings and community events, particularly in Istanbul, Naamaa built friendships across cultures and nationalities. She touched the lives of people around the world, and those who knew her remember her kindness, warmth, and, above all, her beautiful smile.

Chris Abdur-Rahman Blauvelt remembered Naamaa’s support in helping launch Global Muslim Women (GMW) in Istanbul in 2022. He reflected on the impact she had made and prayed that the good growing from that effort would continue to add to her scale of good deeds.

Although Naamaa’s time in this world was short, the kindness she shared continues to live on in the people she touched.

A Sadaqah Jariyah in Her Memory

In memory of Naamaa, we invite you to support mothers and newborns in Damascus, Syria, through Al-Zahrawi Hospital and Every Pregnancy and MedGlobal.

Al-Zahrawi is a public obstetrics and gynecology hospital that provides free care to women from Damascus and surrounding areas. According to the hospital team, it helps deliver at least 20 babies and sees around 70 women in outpatient clinics on a typical day.

For many families, this hospital is their only affordable option for maternity and gynecological care. Yet its medical team continues to work with ageing equipment and shortages of essential medical tools.

A reliable anesthesia machine is particularly important for safe surgery, including emergency caesarean births. When a mother needs an urgent operation, the medical team must have dependable equipment to provide the care she needs.

Our Goal: $12,000 to Sponsor an Anesthesia Machine

Our fundraising goal is $12,000 to sponsor an anesthesia machine for Al-Zahrawi Hospital.

This equipment will support the hospital’s ability to carry out caesarean births and other essential surgical procedures, helping doctors provide safer care to mothers and other patients.

Every donation brings us closer to this goal. Whether you give $25, $100, or more, your contribution will be part of a collective effort to help equip the hospital and support the healthcare workers who care for families every day.

If we raise the full $12,000, we aim to fund the anesthesia machine identified in the hospital’s equipment priorities, subject to final confirmation of its cost and procurement arrangements with MedGlobal.

Naamaa cared about people, valued knowledge, and believed in serving others. Supporting maternal healthcare is one way we can honor those values and extend care to families who need it.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.

Through this Sadaqah Jariyah initiative, we pray that the good made possible by your donations will become a source of ongoing reward for Naamaa, by Allah’s mercy.

O Allah, forgive Naamaa and have mercy on her, grant her well-being and pardon her, honor her arrival, and widen her entrance. Make her grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and grant her the highest Firdaus.
