The measure of a life isn't what we leave behind, but what continues because we lived. Help continue Dr. Nouman Ali's legacy.

For more than three decades, Dr. Nouman Ali dedicated his life to building a better world—through engineering, education, service, and unwavering compassion.

A respected professor of Civil Engineering at Dalhousie University, Dr. Ali's research in transportation engineering helped shape the field far beyond the classroom.

As one of the founding members of Ummah Masjid and Community Centre, he devoted countless hours to ensuring its long-term sustainability while quietly serving wherever he was needed.

Whether mentoring students, advocating for humanitarian causes, supporting seniors, standing for Palestine, or amplifying the voices of those too often unheard, Dr. Ali lived a life of purpose. His generosity was constant, his leadership humble, and his door always open.

Just months before his passing, Ummah Masjid recognized Dr. Ali for his exemplary dedication, righteous leadership, and enduring service to both community and humanity.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to him by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia—a fitting tribute to a man whose impact reached far beyond any single institution.

Dr. Ali was also an avid cyclist. For him, cycling was more than transportation—it reflected the way he lived: moving forward with purpose, humility, and care for the people around him.

Our community was devastated by his sudden passing following a tragic cycling accident.

We mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, mentor, professor, friend, and community pillar. While words cannot replace what has been lost, we can ensure that the values he lived by continue to benefit others.

Today, Ummah Masjid, together with Dr. Ali's family, is establishing this Legacy Campaign as a Sadaqah Jariyah (on-going good)  in his honour.

Every contribution will support charitable initiatives that reflected the causes closest to his heart, allowing his lifelong commitment to faith, education, service, and humanitarian work to continue benefiting generations to come.

The greatest tribute we can offer a man who spent his life building pathways for others is to continue the journey he began.

Please join us in keeping Dr. Nouman Ali's legacy in motion.
