Update as of October 1st 2025:

With Allah's (SWT) mercy and your extensive support, we have achieved a very important goal. The decision to save Stenhagen Mosque has now been confirmed by the building permit authority in Uppsala municipality! 

The mosque is now open for prayer and we can now have daily activities in the mosque, but in reduced capacity! 

Can you imagine that the holy Quran was burnt twice in 2022 in Uppsala where the mosque is now built?

But the challenges are not yet over. We have so far invested £4 (four) million where karde hasanah is nearly £1 (one) million.
Furthermore, finishing and other internal works need to be carried out by 2026.
Once the mosque is fully completed on our own land of 3650 square meter, 1200 people will be able to pray at a time. 

We need around £ 1,2 million over the next 14 months to finish the work. Please support us with your financial aid!

BACKGROUND 

- The land of 3450 square meters was bought in 2015 

- The architectural plan, after all judicial and court proceedings, was finally approved on 1 October 2020

- Ground leveling and foundation completed November 2022 

- Once completed, 1200 people will be able to pray at a time. 

WHAT IS NEXT?  

Work still remains on the following projects:  The entirety of the upper floors, Bath spaces for wudu, kitchen, more toilets, and classrooms.

WORK UP UNTIL NOW: 

A building permit was approved and granted by Uppsala Municipality in November 2020, giving us 5 years to finish the project - until November 2025. For the purchase of land, permits and drawings, we have already spent $400 000, mainly collected from the local Muslims in and around Uppsala. An additional $800 000 was then spent on the groundwork and foundation, with the help of donations from muslims all over the world.

About us

Uppsala Dawa Stiftelse was created in 2013 and is the foundation behind this project. The foundation consists of a core group of people who meet on a regular basis to discuss the project and the progress that has been made each day. Beyond that lies the support of numerous brothers and sisters in the community, as well as from all across Sweden. 

Beyond that, we have been to other cities in Sweden and established contacts there to aid us. We have worked to establish contact with international communities as well, most recently the muslim community of London, where we have also been on Channel S. The work never ends at the moment with us trying to finish the project within the time limit set by the municipality of Uppsala. We are meanwhile continuing to look outside of Sweden and hoping to be aided by our brothers and sisters in the international community.
