This October, Ethar Relief is partnering with the Sudanese Association of Vascular Surgeons (SudAVaS) to support a major vascular surgery mission in Sudan. Led clinically by SudAVaS, around 20 vascular surgeons will come together to provide vital specialist care to people affected by Sudan’s severely disrupted healthcare system.

The Mission From 24–31 October 2026, the team aims to:
300–400 patients assessed
70–80 vascular procedures
~20 specialist vascular surgeons
 

Specialist training for Sudanese surgeons and surgical trainees For patients facing serious vascular conditions, including diabetic limb complications and dialysis access failure, specialist treatment can be extremely difficult to access. 

More Than a Surgical Mission This partnership is about treating patients today while strengthening Sudan’s ability to provide specialist care tomorrow. SudAVaS is leading the clinical mission, whileEthar Relief is supporting fundraising, mobilisation, logistics and mission delivery. Alongside surgery, the mission will strengthen specialist training for Sudanese surgeons and surgical trainees. 

Ethar Relief is also funding £5,400 of biomedical engineering training for three participants, helping build the technical skills needed to support vital medical equipment.
