SUDAN FAMINE APPEAL:
Sudan is facing a severe humanitarian crisis marked by escalating needs, widespread displacement and the risk of famine. The country accounts for 14% of the global internally displaced persons (IDP) population—1 in 7 IDPs worldwide. As of June–September 2024, over 25.6 million people (more than half of Sudan's population) face crisis-level or worse, food insecurity. Of these 8.5 million face emergency hunger, with 755,000 nearing famine, particularly in 10 states, including Greater Darfur, North and South Kordofan, Blue Nile, Al Jazirah, and Khartoum.
The risk of famine is critical in 14 areas, especially in Greater Darfur, Greater Kordofan, Al Jazirah and parts of Khartoum. If conflict persists and access remains limited which leads to economic activities being disrupted then other compounding factors such as dysfunctional healthcare, water contamination and poor sanitation will fuel hunger, malnutrition and disease.

Action For Humanity project: Emergency food Support for children in South Kordofan & Blue Nile States
The project prioritises addressing food insecurity, the top concern of communities affected by the ongoing conflict in South Kordofan (SK) and Blue Nile (BN) states, with a focus on vulnerable groups, particularly children. Since the war's outbreak, communities have struggled to cope, with limited support reaching isolated areas due to ongoing conflict.
The intervention seeks to save lives by tackling critical food shortages, lowering child and maternal mortality rates, and alleviating the effects of the conflict. The project aims to deliver meals to displaced children in shelter centres while conducting awareness sessions on child nutrition and protection to enhance their psychosocial well-being.

Hope and Knowledge have created an opportunity to raise vital funds for Action For Humanity's Sudan Emergency Appeal, by hiking Yorkshire's Dragon's Back. This hike will be in July 2025 over 2 days.
