Iltizam Relief Society will be organizing a Qurbani program for the first time in India's two poorest states, Bihar and its neighboring state, West Bengal. However, this is not the first time we have organized a Qurbani program in India.
Muslims in Bihar make up about 17% of the total population of the state or 17.6 million people. And Muslims in West Bengal number 24.7 million, which is 27% of the total population of the state, with more than 90% being poor.
For West Bengal, currently, Iltizam Relief has undertaken tubewell projects, with 43 tube wells built so far (up to 20 June 2023).
And in Ramadan, we gave food aid to 200 families in West Bengal. We are able to do what we can because we have your support, the Launchgood donors! Thank you!
And for Bihar, this will be the first time we extend our service to the Muslims there. We had a meeting with two representatives from our local partner in Bihar, and we are convinced that Muslims in Bihar need our help.
While Muslims in West Bengal are being sidelined and marginalized, Muslims in Bihar are not only going through the same but are often targeted in communal violence. Recently, mobs burned down mosques in Bihar during the Hindu festival of Ram Navami, and a number of people were also killed and injured in the violence.
However, despite the "beef ban" in most Indian states, non-Hindus in Bihar and West Bengal are still allowed to sacrifice cows and buffalo for Qurbani. Hence, cows are the preferred Qurbani animal in both states, and they are also cheaper.
A portion of the cow for Qurbani is only RM 280 (approximately USD 63) or RM 1,960 (USD 442) for the whole cow (7 portions).
Our target is to offer at least 30 animals for sacrifice this Eid al-Adha.
Our aim is to give them some hope that their brothers and sisters in Islam are there to help them in whatever way we can.

Sadaqah Qurban
The intention of Sadaqah Qurban is to give opportunity to those who cannot afford to participate in the qurbani, not even a portion of a cow. They may donate as little as USD 10; the collected sum will be used to slaughter a cow, and the meat will be distributed to the poor on the day of Eid al-Adha. Although it will not qualify for qurbani meat, our intention to give fresh meat to the poor will be achieved regardless.

Feed muslims in need in Kashmir
Salam dearest brothers and sisters,
Last year, we endeavored to reach the impoverished families across Kashmir but fell short, leaving many in need. This year, we are committed to not only continuing our support but expanding it. Our goal is ambitious: to distribute essential food aid to approximately 3,000 families, focusing especially on those we couldn't assist last Ramadan. Each donation you make contributes towards fulfilling your Zakat and perpetuates the tradition of giving, as encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad. In doing so, you're not merely donating but providing a beacon of hope to those facing the harshest of realities.
In response to the ongoing crisis, we are urgently appealing for your support to help an additional 300 families by the end of Shawwal. These families, particularly those headed by single parents and those caring for orphans, face unimaginable hardships every day. The prolonged conflict in Kashmir has orphaned countless children and left many women widowed, all of whom rely on the compassion and generosity of people like you. Ashura 10th of Muharram

Tomorrow (28/7/2023) would be a great day for all muslims to fast during the day of Ashura, as it was mentioned by the prophet Muhammad S.A.W, "The most excellent fast after Ramadan is God's month. al-Muharram"
So, we would like to encourage all Muslims to fast during the day of 'Ashura.
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Fasting the day of ‘Ashura’, I hope, will expiate for the sins of the previous year.” (Muslim)

THE FIRST AND SUCCESSFUL QURBANI!
This is not the first time Iltizam Relief Society has organised Qurbani in India, but this is the first time we are in the state of West Bengal, India.
Praise Allah for everything; it was a very successful Qurbani.

With your support only we managed to sacrifice 31 cows on our maiden Qurbani here.
We are just speechless to describe how happy the poor in Uttar Dinajpur village are.
In line with Iltizam’s initiative in all 11 countries, this time we also distributed food baskets along with fresh qurbani meat.
This is to enable the poor to cook the meat and enjoy Eid with their family.
Each family received two kilogrammes of fresh qurbani meat and a food basket, mostly distributed door to door in this village.
A total of one thousand families received qurbani meat, which translates into six thousand to nine thousand household people.
This is Allah's blessing. Allah made it easy for us through your support.

Happy to update you that we have procured 11 cows, and are in the process of procuring another 7 cows in West Bengal. We are short of 2 more cows to make it 20.
This is a good start because this is the first time we are organizing Qurbani in West Bengal. However, our minimum target was 30 cows, but achieving 20 is still an achievement.
We still have 4 days to go.
