Urgent: Help Provide Shelter to Families in Crisis

After devastating floods in Pakistan last year, families are still without proper shelter. Our plan is to replace makeshift tents with proper mud houses for 200 families at USD 1200 each. We urgently seek your support for our Community Shelter Project in Nawabshah, Pakistan. 

The background of the crisis is severe, with 33 million Pakistanis affected, and winter is approaching. We face a funding gap, but construction is set to begin in July. Your support can make a significant difference. A donation of USD 1200 can provide one family with a secure shelter.

Iltizam Relief Society, active since 2013, has been impacting lives across 12 countries. By the end of 2023, we aim to establish a disabled rehabilitation center in Pakistan, inshaAllah.

Because of the seasonal nature of their livelihoods, many individuals in Mannar grapple with consistently low income levels.

The head of project sri lanka recently launched the first mission to sri lanka with the primary goal of delivering food packages to 300 families in need. We aim to help alleviate the burdens they bear and provide the necessary support to the community. Meanwhile, the head of the project is conducting an assessment to identify additional requirements aimed at fostering socio-economic stability, with the ultimate goal of reducing dependency on ongoing assistance.

Distribution area  : Musali & Chilawathurai School

Challenges Faced:

The majority of Mannar's population depends on coastal fishing fishing and farming for their livelihoods, with most earning modest incomes that barely cover their food expenses. These livelihoods are seasonal, with work opportunities available for approximately six months, typically from January to June, due to weather conditions.

Mannar experiences a scorching and arid climate with limited rainfall.

This may not provide a steady or sustainable incomes.

Due to the seasonal nature of their livelihoods, many people in Mannar may experience low income levels or sometimes nothing.

Furthermore, Sri Lanka's President declared in February 2023 that the country would remain in a state of financial crisis until at least 2026, as efforts are made to stabilize the economy following unprecedented challenges. This crisis has led to soaring prices and frequent fluctuations, placing an even greater burden on the residents.


Let us hope that the crisis they are facing will be resolved, alleviating their hardships.

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Fasting the day of ‘Ashura’, I hope, will expiate for the sins of the previous year.” (Muslim)
