Performing Udhiya/Qurbani [or any other form of Ibadah] on behalf of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ does not mean that he is in need of a favor from us; rather, it is us who benefit. Imam Ibn Abidin explains in his Radd al-Muhtar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has the most right over us in terms of us donating rewards of good actions, as a small gesture of thanksgiving and gratitude for what he has done for us in protecting us from going astray. [Add to this the fact that he did not forget his Ummah even when offering Udhiya/Qurbani].
