The Croydon Islamic Community Trust (ICT) is facing a clear and urgent reality.
During Jumu’ah and especially on Ramadan nights, the masjid reaches full capacity.
Over 300 worshippers are unable to fit inside the masjid and are forced to pray outside in the car park, along the side of the building, and onto the main road.
The sisters’ prayer area is extremely limited, making it very difficult for sisters — particularly those with children — to attend during peak times.
Some elderly and disabled members are also unable to access parts of the masjid due to stairs.
This is the regular overflow caused by lack of space.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Jannah.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
Providing space for salah, removing hardship from worshippers, and allowing families to attend the masjid with dignity are core responsibilities of a masjid.
At present, we are falling short — not because of intention, but because of space.
We are expanding upwards, replacing the existing car park with a multi-level extension, which will include:
Extended multi-level prayer halls
Expanded space for sisters, including mothers with children
New wudu areas and WC facilities
A new staircase and lift
The structural build including the dome
Core services: water, drainage, electricity, and solar provision
This will allow the masjid to serve the community with dignity, safety, and foresight.

This expansion will be delivered in three main phases, with a potential fourth phase for the minaret.
Phase 1 (Current Focus):
Full structural build from ground to upper levels, watertight shell, lift, staircase, wudu areas, services, and dome.
Phase 2:
Completion of internal layouts including classrooms, workshop spaces, assisted living provision, nursery, and ghusal facilities.
Phase 3:
Completion of facade, window installations, and external architectural works.
Phase 4 (Future Phase):
Minaret, new carpets, and solar panel installation.
This campaign is focused on completing Phase 1.
Total Phase 1 Cost: £455,000
Funds Secured: £150,000
Amount Needed: £305,000

This project is driven by genuine community need, approved by the masjid’s management and on-the-ground team, and is ready to move forward by the will of Allah.

Every rak‘ah prayed because space was created.
Every sister able to attend with her children.
Every elderly person able to return to Jumu’ah.
That reward continues by the will of Allah.

When the community works collectively, what feels heavy becomes achievable, just as the Prophet ﷺ and the companions built the masjid together.
