Child Sponsorship and Orphan Care

A blessing to a child is their parents. They provide them with the safe necessities to live a healthy and conducive life. However, according to UNICEF, there were an estimated 140 million orphans globally in 2020. This number includes children who have lost one or both parents due to various reasons such as conflict, disease, poverty, or natural disasters. Sadly, for millions of orphans worldwide, this vision of the future remains a distant hope. But within the confines of your generosity lies the power to transform their world.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this’, and he (saw) held his two fingers together to illustrate. [Bukhari]

Supporting the Mothers of Gaza

HCI has come together again to look after the mothers and children in need in Gaza. The mothers of Gaza both bear the unimaginable burden of raising their children amid destruction, loss, and daily struggles for survival. Many of these mothers have lost their husbands and now care for their children alone, fighting to keep them safe, fed, and educated despite the ongoing crisis. By supporting orphans, we are directly supporting these mothers—providing them with food, shelter, and resources to ensure their children’s survival. A mother should never have to choose between feeding her child and finding medical care. Your donations help ease their suffering, giving them hope and strength to carry on. Sponsoring a mother provides food, water, medical care, shelter and maternity care through our clinics. Pregnant mothers will have safe deliveries at our clinics and be supported with their babies from day 1 in sha Allah. 

Babies are being born at Al Nuseirat Maternity Field Hospital every single day, and that alone is a miracle. In a place where hospitals have been destroyed and supplies are almost gone, over 2,800 deliveries have happened here since the crisis began. Some moms have had to undergo emergency C-sections, often with limited medication or resources. But they still show up, still fight to bring their children safely into the world. This hospital isn’t just a building. It’s one of the only places left where women can give birth with care, with dignity, and with someone by their side.

Water Wells & Clean Water

Each year, 443 million school days are lost from water-related challenges and illnesses. Dirty drinking water kills 1000 children daily through diarrhea, typhoid, cholera, dysentery and other water-borne illnesses. That means more people die every year… Lack of access to clean drinking water means a less prosperous community. 

‘The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, “[Providing] water”’. [Abu Dawud]

The body being deprived of water can result in a higher chance of fatality. Many diseases are water-borne, which means contamination of water places a higher risk of poor health and diseases that can be fatal and long-term. Human Concern International is on the ground in the most drought-stricken areas to provide vulnerable communities with clean drinking water. To ensure that WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) programs are tenable, we work with local partners who are more intimate with the challenges of their communities to find and implement practical and effective solutions. 

Clean water is essential to life. It is estimated that 663 million people are without access which has a direct impact on health, education, and economic opportunity.

This campaign is dedicated to fundraising on behalf of Human Concern International, a registered charity in Canada, the US, and the UK. The collected funds will be directed to this charity.
