Who are we?

My name is Sujel Miah and, when my wife and I started a family, we decided to make a conscious effort to eat dinner with our children. Fast forward over 20 years and my daughters and I have now combined our various artistic and literary talents to create a book, ‘Dinner with my Daughters’ as a tribute to this family tradition. 

In the book, we recount conversations we have had at the dinner table along with the life lessons we have gleaned from these interactions. 

I wrote the stories and my daughters did the artwork and it is our hope that the book will provide a starting point for many wonderful family discussions, God willing.

According to a 2012 study by Sainsbury’s, only 28% of families share a regular evening meal with the rest of us eating different meals, at different times and often, in the case of children and teens, in front of a screen of some kind.

In spite of the fact that studies have shown that children and teens who share family dinners three or more times per week are less likely to be overweight, more likely to eat healthy food, perform better academically, have better relationships with their parents and are less likely to engage in risky behaviours, the numbers continue to decline.

Where your money will go

When you support our Launchgood campaign, we will make a donation for every book ordered to Luton Foodbank. So your family dinner can help other less fortunate families at the same time!

Your sponsorship will also help us get the books printed and distributed to homes and schools around the UK. The funds will also help us continue to raise awareness of the importance of family dinners and encourage more families to connect over dinnertime conversation.
