In Honour of Br. Kevin (Rahimahullah)

Support for His Loved Ones

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

With hearts shattered, we share the devastating passing of our beloved brother, Kevin (Rahimahullah), who returned to Allah after a tragic car accident in Alberta.

Brother Kevin had just started a new job. It was only his second day. Early in the morning, while driving to work, an unforeseen accident took his life.

In an instant, a giant was taken from this dunya.

Two communities are grieving deeply – Windsor, where he helped build generations of youth, and Alberta, where his service continued without pause.

As one brother said simply:

“We are crushed.”

Who Brother Kevin Was

Brother Kevin was not just known in the community.

He was loved. Deeply. Quietly. Across generations.

He was a devoted husband, the lifelong companion and best friend of his wife, and a deeply loving father.

Their story is one of rare sincerity: they embraced Islam together when they were young, and for over two decades they walked the path of deen side by side – quietly, consistently, humbly.

Brother Kevin’s home was one of service.

His family was blended, and his fatherhood extended beyond his own children. He even took on the responsibility of raising nephews as his own – embodying the role of protector, older brother, and caregiver in the truest sense.

He was the kind of man who fathered more than his own household.

A Legacy of Service That Never Stopped

For many years in Windsor, Brother Kevin gave himself entirely to the community.

He mentored hundreds of youth – children who are now adults with families of their own – instilling love of Allah, good character, and confidence in their Muslim identity.

The tribute by Sh. AbdelKader Tayebi describes it perfectly:

He was there…

  • for youth nights
  • for street da‘wah and convert care
  • for camps, open houses, and schools
  • carrying boxes, setting up chairs, cleaning quietly
  • serving endlessly, without recognition

And when he moved to Alberta ten years ago, his service did not end.

It continued – including work serving First Nations youth, with the same sincerity and care.

Goodness flowed through him.

Buried Where Allah Decreed His Return

Brother Kevin had expressed a wish that wherever Allah decreed his return, that would be the land in which he would be buried.

That wish will be honoured.

He will be laid to rest in Edmonton, In shaa Allah, and prayed upon at Al-Rashid Mosque, a masjid built upon the same legacy of service and devotion that Brother Kevin himself lived by.

We ask for a large Janazah turnout.

Though he may not have known many in Edmonton, he deserves a farewell that reflects the life he lived.

His wife, will be present bee ithnilah with close loved ones who are flying out to attend his janaza.

Let us not allow her to stand alone.

Why We Are Raising Funds

Brother Kevin was the sole provider for his household.

His wife currently has no independent source of income, and she is now facing not only overwhelming grief, but sudden financial uncertainty.

This campaign was initiated with two intentions:

1. Fulfill a Water Well Sadaqah Jariyah ($1,500 CAD)

Brother Hussien Althabteh had hoped to build a water well project, with a goal of $1,500 CAD, and we are committed to fulfilling that intention in Kevin's name, In shaa Allah.

This will be coordinated in consultation with Sheikh Abdelkader Tayibi, the wife and her family representatives, selecting the most meaningful project to honour him.

2. Support His Loved Ones Directly

Any funds raised beyond the $1,500 water well amount will go directly to his loved ones to support her living needs during this painful transition.

This campaign is verified and being overseen by trusted community leaders.

A Community Caring for Him as He Cared for Others

Brother Kevin spent his life showing up.

Now it is our turn.

Let us care for him the way he cared for others.

Let us support the loved ones of a man who gave his life to service.

Let us send forward a charity that will continue to benefit him until the Day of Judgment.

How You Can Help

  • Donate generously
  • Share widely
  • Attend the Janazah in Edmonton this Friday January 30th, 2026 or in Windsor (Salatul Ghaib)
  • Keep Brother Kevin and Sister Haniyya and their loved ones in your du‘as

May Allah forgive Brother Kevin, widen his grave, fill it with light, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus without account and accept his sudden and devasting death as a martyr.

May Allah grant Sister Haniyya patience, comfort, and a community that does not leave her alone.

Ameen ya Rabb.
