Help us get justice for Soleiman!

A son. A brother. An uncle. A friend. A Canadian citizen. Soleiman Faqiri lost his life at the hands of prison guards in on Ontario correctional facility in Lindsay, Ontario on December 15th, 2016.

Prison guards repeatedly beat Soleiman as he lay helplessly. He was found with over 50 bruises on his body, including a gash on his forehead.

Soleiman was a man suffering from schizophrenia and the staff was aware of his condition. Support Soleiman's family as they fight for justice for Soleiman's death along with many others with mental health issues who have lost their lives due to the horrible conditions in our correctional facilities. Support us in bringing a change to the system as a whole!

Soleiman Faqiri

Born on January 1, 1986, Soleiman Faqiri was the second eldest of 5 children.

A high achiever, Soleiman excelled in everything he dedicated himself to. He was a straight-A student, the recipient of multiple awards in school, and briefly played for the Ajax Wanderers Rugby Club.

Soleiman was an amazing son, brother, and uncle to his two nephews and two nieces who he adored immensely. He was a mentor to his younger siblings. He showed a level of love to his family members and those around him that could not be matched. Soleiman's death has left a void to his family and is a loss for the world as a whole.

He was accepted to the University of Waterloo Environmental Engineering Program – a highly competitive program. Unfortunately, due to an accident during the second semester of his first year, Soleiman was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the young age of 19. His family was devastated but did all that they could to support him. As a result of his diagnosis, he was unable to complete his studies.

Soleiman was killed by guards on December 15, 2016, while in custody at an Ontario correctional facility in Lindsay. The Faqiri family needs your support to help them serve justice and change the system to protect individuals with mental health issues in correctional facilities. Support the Faqiri family in claiming #JusticeforSoli and to help bring a solution to the faults in our system towards individuals with mental health.
