It's that time again! In previous years our group and community members like yourself came together and we collectively raised over $60,000 to help orphans in need. We are trying to come together once again to sponsor up to 100 orphans this year! Children are the most vulnerable among us. We must protect them.

Human Appeal has been providing vital humanitarian support and development projects in Palestine for 32 years and has supported over 573,000 people. During this difficult time, we are fortunate to have a team on the ground, who have been providing daily distributions of food, hygiene kits, clean water, medical supplies, and waterproof tents. We have delivered five planes full of aid – that’s over 120 tons – in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO). This essential relief has already provided £1.5 million worth of medicines, including antibiotics, anesthesia, items for surgery, rehabilitation, infant care, pain relief, and prenatal vitamins. Our convoy of three shipping containers has also entered Gaza, providing over 36 tons of food, 32 crates of winter clothing, 2,000 blankets, and 2,000 mattresses. 

Palestine is experiencing a massive humanitarian disaster. It has become home to ethnic cleansing and genocide. As result, the number of orphans has skyrocketed. Palestinian orphans need our help more than ever, especially in the last 10 days of this blessed month of Ramadan.

Over 20,000 Palestinians lost their lives, half of whom were children. Gaza has been deemed the most dangerous place for children.  

There is an estimated Over 10,000 New Orphans since October in Gaza.

According to the UN more than 100, 000 Palestinians been killed, wounded, or missing in Gaza. Many children have been orphaned or ended up alone with no adult to take care of them. There is a new acronym unique to Gaza, which is WCNSF- wounded child, no surviving family. 

In any community, orphans are among the most vulnerable groups, often facing hunger, disease, exploitation, and extreme cycles of poverty.

The Prophet, on him be peace, said:

‘I and the one who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two’ — and he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together, barely separate” (Bukhari, No. 5304).

The Prophet, on him be peace, praised the person who assumes responsibility for a widowed woman by sponsoring her, as a person who exemplifies the most noble virtues of piety, valor, and self-sacrifice. This implies the promise of eminent Heavenly reward for the one who gives the sadaqah that sustains her, which often means sustaining her orphaned children. He said: "The one who looks after and works for a widow and for a poor person is like a warrior fighting in the way of God” (Bukhari).

• Notably, the Prophet himself, on him be peace, conjoined the conditions of women and orphans in his caution to this community — us — not to let them down. He called Allah to witness, saying: “O Allah! I have forbidden failing the right of the two vulnerable ones — the orphan and women.”
   

Prophet Muhammad, on him be peace, reportedly said:

"The best household among the Muslims is a household wherein an orphan is treated well. And the worst household among the Muslims is a household wherein an orphan is ill-treated” (Ibn Majah).
