We are Muslim with Disabilities and we need a Home.

In Islam, integrating those with disabilities into the community is the way of our beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him). Showing empathy and compassion is an integral part of our core beliefs as Muslims. Help us establish the Noor Villa; a place they can call home when their parents have passed away. 

DEEN has been providing opportunities to individuals with all disabilities ensuring they are supported in their community. DEEN has allowed for growth, empowerment and inclusion in many ways. 

DEEN runs a number of networks; caregivers, peer support, siblings, vision network and others. These networks have become a family away from home for many,  its the backbone of support that proved to invaluable to those we serve. At DEEN we provide programming to youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  We teach them life skills to support their independence so they can learn to support themselves.

We are investing in Muslims with disabilities because we believe in them. We believe that they have the potential, given the right training, skills and accommodation. We have seen their growth and how much they have accomplished being in our programs. Alhamdulilah. 

At DEEN we teach independent living skills; preparing healthy meals and snacks, sewing, daily fitness routines, managing money, working on maintaining current fine motor and gross motor skills, personal goals, socialization, personal care, conversation skills, duas, salah, Islamic values and many more.

Developing these skills and abilities are an important step in preparing them to live in a care home setting. A place where they can live in dignity, care, and with Islamic values. They need a place to call home when their caregivers/parents pass away.

It will be the first Muslim Care Home in North America for those with disabilities. Be apart of something HUGE this Ramadan. This project will make a major difference in the lives of racialized individuals with intellectual disabilities by honouring their cultural/spiritual traditions with an appropriate, accessible peer support network where they can feel comfortable to access information in languages they understand. 

In Canada, in fact in the west, there are NO Muslim care homes for people with disabilities. There are over 14,000 individuals on a waitlist for a bed in a group home in Ontario, Canada. In the Greater-Toronto Area, which is home to the largest Muslims community in Canada, the waitlist for supportive housing is 20 to 23 years long.  Subhan Allah! This is a crisis. We need your help to respond to this crisis!!  

Help us establish a place to belong and a place to call home. At DEEN Support Services, our goal is to establish the NOOR Villa! 

The Noor Villa will feature:

• Houses individuals with disabilities for the long-term; reducing waitlist times and crisis situations!
• Designed to be culturally sensitive to the Muslim community
• Service of Halal Food
• Personal Islamic hygiene standards
• 24-hour personal care services that are gender-specific (i.e. females caring for females and males caring for males)
• Office space, activity area, and prayer space
• Range of programming offered: Peer support services, Drop-in programs, and other special events
• Respite care for parents who want to go for Hajj or Umrah, or just take a break from caregiving

 We will be judged as a society by how we treat our most vulnerable members.

We are a registered Canadian charity founded by Muslims with Disabilities. DEEN operates a number of programs & services in Mississauga, Ottawa and Scarborough and serves all individuals with disabilities regardless of religion, language and culture. DEEN is an essential service, a second home for many, and we are trying to meet the demands for our services. Insha'Allah.
