Help us feed poor and starving children and families living in the 'Cape Flats' of Cape Town, South Africa.

Many children living in Cape Town's most impoverished areas of the 'Cape Flats', live on whatever food their guardians have scavenged for that day, mostly from begging. Some days they go without eating anything.

They cannot even dream of going to school as they have never experienced it and do not know what it’s like. They live in a makeshift ‘shack’, which does not provide much shelter, especially during the bitter cold and wet winter months.

Why Do These Children Need Our Help?

The Cape Flats of Cape Town, South Africa, is home to countless children living in abject poverty, often born to drug-addicted parents. These children lack access to education, housing, and adequate healthcare.

In many cases they are left to fend for themselves, often resulting in them resorting to life on the streets, and in many cases, the victims of sexual and psychological abuse by adults on a regular basis.

In order to survive, many resort to begging, petty theft, and joining a gang.

These children feel alone in the world and that there is no one out there that cares for them. Many of them have special needs, and will never receive access to adequate care or education.

What can we do to help them?

Providing humanity's most basic need – food.

The poor of the poor in the Cape Flats often do not even have their most basic need met: food. Sometimes a cup of water is a meal. Discarded chicken skins are a treat. 3 meals a day? Never. 

All made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic, making it that much harder to find an odd job or gain any meaningful employment.

This initiative is a campaign organized by Muslims Connected and Heart 2 Heart in South Africa, who every day witness the horrific conditions in which poor and orphaned children live in the poverty-stricken parts of Cape Town.

Our mission is to raise awareness and resources to provide food to the poor Muslim families of the Cape Flats for Ramadan and Eid. We have partnered with on-the-ground support to help us get the aid to those who need it the most.
