Safe Home Moving Provider
$100 moves one family to a safe and secure home. This requires community volunteers to aid these families in moving their belongings from their current living situation, whether currently in a shelter and moving to a new safe home, or currently in a dangerous home and moving to a shelter and in need of a place to store their belongings. For each move, a U-Haul moving truck with gas and mileage costs MCL roughly $100 or more. Please enable MCL to continue safely housing families and individuals in our community.

Healthy Meals Provider
On a yearly and monthly basis, our MCL Referral & Support staff, consisting of 1 part-time staff and 2 volunteers, assist multiple families and individuals who have low-incomes, with accessing public assistance benefits. These benefits include those such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which on average, provide qualifying households with $255 per month to purchase food. Some of the families and individuals our staff work with speak little to no English and have an extremely difficult time completing basic forms to request assistance. Many have fallen on hard times and are not aware of how to even access public assistance benefits. Our staff provide the expertise and the interpreting and translation services to assist and empower them to request benefits. Enable our organization to pay our staff to assist and advocate for the basic human right of food for the families and individuals in our community in need of support.

Our organization would go no where without our paid staff and volunteer staff. Your donation enables us to ensure the safety of our staff by helping us to afford liability insurance & disability insurance, should mistakes and/or injuries happen on the job. The work of social service workers often goes unpaid and unrecognized. If we are to be an organization that is guided by Justice, Compassion, and Growth, and that yearns for a community in which all its members have achieved or are empowered to achieve social, physical, and mental wellness, then we must also provide the same to our paid and volunteer staff.

Every year, our MCL Referral & Support staff, consisting of 1 part-time staff and 2 volunteers, assist multiple families and individuals who have low-incomes, with accessing public assistance benefits. These benefits include those such as Home Energy Assistance, which provide as much as $770 per household for heating and energy costs for subsidized housing tenants. Some of the families and individuals our staff work with speak little to no English and have an extremely difficult time completing basic forms to request assistance. Many have fallen on hard times and are not aware of how to even access public assistance benefits. Our staff provide the expertise and the interpreting and translation services to assist and empower them to request benefits. Enable our organization to pay our staff to assist and advocate for the basic human right of warm shelter for the families and individuals in our community in need of support.

Home Provider for a Family &/or Individual
Nearly every month of the year, MCL works with a different family and/or individual in need of shelter to escape domestic violence or in need of shelter or housing assistance because of financial insecurity and other life challenges. The majority of the families in need of support & resources with are women with children. $1000 enables us to house and shelter a family for a month and allocate the necessary staffing to take these families through the domestic violence shelter, emergency shelter, and/or subsidized housing processes.

Community Builder
Our community building programs like Black Seed Farmers Market & the Parent-Child Playgroup require undivided attention from professionals who care about children, youth, families, and community. The children, youth, and families that partake in our community building programs are often times from the same families who receive resource & support assistance from our Referral & Support Services staff, allowing these families to have a sense of community belonging. $2500 enables us to cover the costs of employing an individual for several hours a week to appropriately plan & implement a single community building program for 26 weeks.
