Empowering Rohingya Refugee Kids through Education

As of end April 2019, there are some 90,200 Rohingya refugees registered with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Malaysia. A huge population of them are children.

These children are deprived of their most fundamental needs: EDUCATION. 

In Malaysia, refugee children do not have access to formal education. On the other hand, the cost of private education is often too expensive, making it unaffordable for this community.

Without access to education, thousands of these children are vulnerable to human trafficking, social problems and illiteracy.

Rainbow of Love Learning Centre: A New Hope

Our NGO, Humanitarian Aid Selangor Society (HUMAN AID) believe that it is our responsibility as fellow Muslims and mankind to alleviate the hardship of the Rohingya community in Malaysia.

In 2015, we established Rainbow of Love Learning Centre as a community-run learning centre that provides basic education for Rohingya refugee and orphaned children. We started with 25 students and two volunteer teachers. Over the years, we are growing steadily and as of May 2019, there are currently 250 students registered at our centre. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate 80 students due to lack of funds and capacity.

This learning centre is crucial to provide education, dignity and knowledge to these children. Our centre was officially recognized as a learning centre by UNHCR in 2016.

We provide academic lessons as well as religious studies to them. They learn English, Science, Mathematics and Malay language in the morning, as well as Al-Quran, Tajwid, Tawhid, Sirah and Akhlaq in the afternoon.

There are various vocational classes that they can choose from such as arts, sewing, baking, public speaking and carpentry class.

We truly believe that education will empower children, their families and the community.

DONATE TO OUR CAUSE :

We aim to crowdfund between RM 70,000 - RM 80,000 for the education expenses of the children for the academic year 2019-2020. This funds will be used for school materials, teachers allowance, foods and utility expenses.
