Education: A Better Future for Children Affected by War

Bareeq Education and Development Center is a non-profit and human development organization aimed at assisting children and their mothers, providing education, psychological assistance, and vocational training for those affected by conflict. Its mission is to preserve human dignity and reduce poverty and dependence by providing access to education.
This stems from the founders’ belief that education is not only a basic human right, but a key factor in raising hope and reducing poverty. Education equips individuals to secure the tools they need to reach their full potential, empowering them to be part of the solution to create a peaceful,
prosperous society.

Programs and Outcomes

• The center currently has 350 students enrolled in the 2nd to 12th-grade programs, with more than 200 on the waiting list. Bareeq also has a computer center and library.

• We also provide adult literacy classes and in only one year, we graduated 85 students from the Arabic literacy classes, and over 400 graduates from the British Council teacher training program. Bareeq’s impact is real and gratifying.

• In addition to education, Bareeq provides orphan assistance to 65 children, as well as entrepreneurship support to their mothers (or guardians) to open small businesses. 
• An early Bareeq program is assisting with university scholarships in Jordan in partnership with Karam Foundation in the US. Our partnership has been supporting 20 students, two of whom have now graduated, with 4 more slated for graduation later this year (2018). Many of the university scholarship recipients are from our top-performing Bareeq grade 12 graduates.
  
  

The Bareeq Team

Bareeq Education & Development is an educational non-profit organization with the mission of providing refugee and other marginalized youths and their parents with the opportunities, knowledge, skill set, guidance, and positive mental health to help them be effective members of their communities. Our team is comprised of an international team of Americans, Jordanians, Syrians-including Syrian refugees who are studying in Jordanian Universities.
