How the Families are chosen
With unemployment well over 50%, nearly everyone is in need. Rebuilding Alliance partners with four community-based Non-Governmental Orgs in Gaza who know their community very well. They select the most marginalized families in Rafah, Khan Younis, Gaza City and Beit Lahia, in refugee camps and on the margins of the cities. Families with no source of income, with disabilities, suffering from disease, or single women households — these all qualify as families in need.
You can feed a family for as little as $70. Each food box, sufficient for a family of six, will last them two weeks. Here's what you give in a Food Box:

About Us
Rebuilding Alliance is a US-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working for equal rights for Palestinians since 2003. Our work is guided by the Palestinian community. We take on projects that meet their most pressing needs and make a meaningful difference in their lives. We work in close coordination with our partner Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) based in Palestine.
How did the Ramadan Food Drive begin?
In 2015, while delivering solar lights to children in their homes in Gaza, Donna Baranski-Walker, Founder and Executive Director of Rebuilding Alliance, saw that people were in dire need of food. Rebuilding Alliance successfully sent 35,000 solar lanterns through the blockade but delivering food and clothing was different because this is purchased locally. Rebuilding Alliance complies with all the U.S. Patriot Act regulations to send grants of money to our NGO partners who take bids and allow us to vet the vendors. The partner NGOs then purchase and deliver the food aid.
Because of your support, Rebuilding Alliance initiated its Ramadan Food Drive in 2018 and delivered food boxes among Gaza families in need. With your help, we are serving more and more families every year. Last year, 600 families in Gaza benefited from these food boxes for a total worth of $51,000, followed by Eid clothing for children. As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, we are reminded of the importance of giving back to our communities and helping those in need. In this spirit, I am reaching out to you to ask for your support in our effort to provide food packages to families in need during Ramadan IN Gaza strip.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on many families, particularly those who have lost their jobs or have had their income reduced. These families are struggling to put food on the table, and Ramadan can be an especially challenging time for them.
We are working with local organizations and teams to provide food packages that will help these families get through the month of Ramadan. Each food package will contain essential items such as rice, flour, lentils, oil, sugar, and dates.

Winter in Gaza can be very harsh conditions without heating and electricity. Life in Gaza is the worst, according to reports coming from the ground there.

Thank you for being part of a Ramadan miracle for this girl and her family in Oriba area of Rafah, Gaza, Palestine:
When Kareem delivered the grocery box, a mother spoke with him through tears of joy. She explained that she had just overheard her daughter praying to Allah, asking for food because they didn’t have anything to cook for iftar. Ten minutes later, Kareem knocked on the door and asked for permission to come in. The whole family was surprised to see a box full of food. She said, “Thank you so much. I am speechless, you are making me cry. We’ll keep praying for you, Ramadan Mubarak, and a big thank you.”
Kareem is a team member with one of our partner NGO’s, the Women Program Center in Rafah, Gaza. As they shared this beautiful story with us, I knew I had to share with you, how you have been able to contribute and provide for this family and other 841 families in Gaza. Please see the joy you have brought to these families.
