The handwritten letter above is one of many REAL letters that we received from incarcerated Muslims. It reads:
"AsalamuAlaykum,
I would like to thank you for sending my children Eid gifts. They thanked me and were very happy. Ironically, I did sign up for Angel Tree to be able to send something and they made it too difficult to get gifts. They required my family to attend a Christmas party and they opted out for obvious reasons. I said to myself, 'Why isn't there Muslims who give gifts," and a few months later, my wife told me about you. May Allah bless your efforts and make all of you successful."
Through our Muslim Toy Chest program, we put a smile on the faces of the children of incarcerated Muslims by providing Eid gifts.
EMPOWER:
We provide referrals to prison staff and incarcerated Muslims' families who reach out to us for assistance. We also provide religious items where requested.
EDUCATE:
We replace the worn-out, outdated donated books in prison libraries. We'll send out high-quality literature for incarcerated Muslims; books that will transform their souls and their impression of the Muslim community outside.
Muslim Prisoner Project is founded by Tricia Pethic, a seminary-trained Muslim chaplain with experience in the guidance and instruction of Muslim inmates in federal and state prisons.
