Imam Siraj Wahhaj and the Atlanta Muslim Community extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join us in a transformative endeavor. Together, let's embark on a journey to establish a unique, cutting-edge multi-use property in Atlanta, Georgia, that will not only benefit local Muslims but also welcome and serve our global Muslim family.

Project Overview

The project is led by Masjid Al-Bayyinah of Atlanta Tri-Cities. The Masjid Al-Bayyinah organization has been serving the community since 2004 and operates as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Masjid Al-Bayyinah is also a member of Atlanta City-Wide Majlis As-Shura. 

The campaign aims to build a New Masjid, a Hospitality Center for Travelers, and a Janazah Preparation Center. Our vision is to acquire 7.6 acres+ of serene land, strategically located just 2.4 miles from the World's Busiest Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. This location allows us to cater to the estimated over 20 million Muslim travelers who pass through annually. The cost of the property and the first phase of the project is $2,000,000. This land will become a central hub for Islamic activities, serving multiple generations and fostering civic engagement with the broader community.

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center seamlessly integrates a dynamic experience. We are also committed to elevating hospitality and offering respite accommodations tailored for travelers. Attention to the Islamic lifestyle considerations will be made for families and exclusive single-gender setups. Moreover, this multi-use property will also offer a purpose-built space to host the United Eid Prayer for multiple communities in the City of Atlanta, Georgia. The versatile space can also be used as Conference/Event rental space during off-peak season.

Designed with a forward-thinking approach, the structures InshaAllah will exemplify efficiency and green sustainability, incorporating parking solutions, solar panels, water conservation measures, proposed urban farming, and lush green roofs. The synergy of modern amenities and eco-conscious features ensures an inclusive space for diverse generations for years to come.

Masjid

Masjid Al-Bayyinah's new facility, set to be owned free and clear, will include a Janazah preparation facility, addressing a significant gap in services and sparing the Muslim community from relying on non-Muslim funeral homes. Masjid Al-Bayyinah envisions a dedicated hospitality area within the mosque to make the traveling experience more comfortable for the approximately 70,000 daily Muslim Travelers coming through the airport from around the world. Our commitment to safety, cleanliness, and modesty ensures comfortable accommodations for all who visit.

The mosque will be designed with lounge spaces to nurture a love for the Masjid among the youth, while also featuring areas tailored for special non-Muslim guests to explore the Islamic lifestyle. Additionally, sisters and brothers will find comfortable Musallah (Prayer Areas) suited to engender concentrated worship of their Creator.

Green Spaces

Families and Children will enjoy timeless green play spaces, and Muslim families will have the privilege of their own dedicated green areas. Unlike other city green spaces where we often contend with disruptions like loud music, smoking, and alcohol, our private property allows us to enforce policies that maintain a serene environment. Nevertheless, we extend a warm invitation to the general public to freely relish the beauty of our park.

The Case for Importance

With a rich history spanning nearly 70 years, the Atlanta Muslim Community boasts over 45 Masajids. However, there's a notable absence of a unifying location in the city exclusively for Muslims. Our facility aims to fill this void, offering a space dedicated to the collective usage of all Masajids, fostering a sense of unity, and promoting Islamic ideals in the community. During conventions, conferences, and Eid, our community expends hundreds of thousands of dollars within just a few days. The success of this campaign is crucial as it will secure valuable land, leaving a lasting and substantial impact on our environment for years to come.

Mahdi Abdur-Rahman is an attorney who is supporting the WAQF for our project. Partnering with him ensures that our business model is Islamically WAQF-compliant, transparent, and sustainable.
