Disaster has struck North Africa. Families in Marrakesh, Morocco have been hit with a 6.8 magnitude earthquake.

Ina Illahi Waina Illahi Rajioon. Over 820 people have lost their lives and over 672 people have been reported as injured. These numbers are rapidly increasing.

Marrakesh in an ancient UNESCO with old infrastructure. Due to this, many buildings quickly disintegrated into rubble when the earthquake hit, trapping families inside. The situation is still a high-risk zone with more tremors being felt and families desperately looking for their relatives. Emergency services are on hand pulling bodies out of the affected areas and transporting them to the local hospitals.

We are here to help these families who have lost everything. We are on hand to provide food, clothing, blankets, hygiene essentials. Your support allows us to do that.

As recent events in Turkey have shown us, we could lose everything in an instant. Literally in seconds, everything we have built up or thought was precious is taken away. This includes loved ones and even our own lives. It is the decree of Allah SWT when we leave this dunya. And when that moment comes we really can’t do any more to increase our good deeds on our scales.

This is why we should take every precious moment and opportunity to do good and please Allah SWT. Especially as we are coming closer to Ramadan we should focus on improving our salah, pay greater attention to our loved ones, neighbours, those we’ve fallen out with and those in need. We should give more in charity and help out where we can. We should be in constant remembrance of Allah SWT and also look after our health. These things are important.

Firstly I'd like to thank you for opening this message, because it show that you want to take every opportunity to do good and please Allah SWT. 

Every moment we have really is precious, we don't know if we will be alive tomorrow. So taking every opportunity is important. When our dear brother Ali Banat was diagnosed with cancer and given a few months to live, he took it as a blessing to do what he could before he passed away. He donated everything he had to help vulnerable families in need. This, mashallah is an excellent example, and one we pray Allah SWT rewards Ali abundantly for his actions. 

This example is also something we can be inspired by too. 

Right now, I'm looking to support vulnerable orphan families in Togo, Africa. The communities there are surviving on dirty water and scraps of food they find. Their life expectancy is short. MATW is committed to changing that, which is why they have an orphan complex that supports their education, provides food, clothing, clean water to drink and wash, as well as a masjid for them to pray and learn Quran. I have personally seen the centre myself and it is incredible. I would love for you to support this initiative on this blessed day.
